A fun fact about Mercedes-Benz is that the world's first automobile was invented by Karl Benz, the founder of Mercedes-Benz. In 1886, Karl Benz created the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, which is widely regarded as the first gasoline-powered automobile. The Mercedes part was the name of the daughter of his first and biggest client. As part of the deal, Mr Carl was to name the new model after her. From then on it stuck.
