While painfully underpowered, at least it will last three times longer than its German competitors.

Very sharp looking vehicle. Probably the best interpretation of Lexus' design language

I get it’s not fast natural engine > turbo any day

Also most people don’t drive cars for “fun” they drive them to go to work and the store and back.

Just got a UX-F Hybrid, 181hp has been working just fine for me zipping around town. I have no issues merging onto the freeway or passing people. I have interchanged between EV mode and mostly Normal mode, and averaging approx. 39-41mpg. My only 2 major complaints are ground clearance being too low to the ground scratches over dips and doors hit the edge of the sidewalk, and the cargo volume is very minimal. I paid extra for the cross-bars so I can take a bike and install a cargo carrier but Lexus really needs to increase the trunk space and raise it a little more. It's a great city vehicle that fits everywhere and I get a decent mile range with its fuel economy...I'm not mad about the $40K UX-F Hybrid I got for $34K. Definitely not for everyone but it does have a target consumer...us city dwellers who want luxury comfort and care about fuel economy. Not to mention, its residual value after 3 years/30K miles will be $22K.

How many people buy a Lexus cuv or suv for spirited driving? No one. You buy it for its intended purpose. Auto reviewers kill me talking about stuff the average buyer could care less about. Steering feel... the average person could care less about steering feel on a Lexus cuv or or any car thats not meant for the track or cost 6 figures. Quit reviewing everyday cars the same way you review exotics...intended purpose people.

Save your money and just buy a Golf R. Cargo capacities are better and it has all the luxury features and utility with a huge dose of performance. You're welcome.

Good review Steve .. I do like how it looks .. it looks and I’m sure feels upscale .. but there’s no way a turbo should be absent on a Lexus platform.. maybe Toyota but not Lexus ... other than that.. it’s a nice car sure to sell well

Good review. Nailed it! It's a secretary car. Nothing more.

doesn't explain that the hybrid variant has 4WD, and that they added a gear onto the CVT to help with getting off the line

All STUFF!
Good pickup for my secretary, though. It'll sell.

I driven a UX 250h makes it a pretty nice urban runabout. Gas mileage is amazing, available AWD is a bonus in Canada & parking it is easy.
Don't let its body cladding fool you however - Lexus designed this to be more a city car and it shows. On the highway & open road it does feel underpowered.

Nice looking design but 0-60 in 9 seconds for 40k? Yikes.

It's a bigger CH-R with more power. It's pretty zippy around 60mph but drones around 4000rpm when it comes to passing speeds. It maneuvers very well and parks EVERYWHERE where the NX would fail. If fuel economy is your goal, it is rated at about 33mpg which is the best in its segment and gets more miles to a full tank. If performance is your goal and you have $40K+ to shell out go the Volvo XC40. Both are great vehicles, depends on what you want in a vehicle in the luxury segment.

My $19, 000 Soul, which I consider an experience in anxiety merging from highway onramps does a bit better than this.

It's the CH-R that everyone else can get.

I don't understand why they don't make a fully electric car. There're going to be so far behind all the other manufactures

Now it’s the century of black cladding on the side and rear of SUVs now no matter the price
