Hi Bharath, Nice explanation. But as per my understanding Apache Tomcat is a web server which has a servlet/jsp container to serve web related dynamic requests and it doesn't require an application server to serve a dynamic request if there is no java related technologies are used in the application(like EJB or JMS).

Hi, thanks for the concise explanation! Quick question - why is it typical to have a Web Server serve static content, while having an application server serve dynamic content? Why not have an application server serve both?

I have seen a spring boot Microservice application.
*They just have dependency tomcat.jar and then they just build the application and they run "java --jar myapp. jar"*



In this embedded tomcat still a web container. Or it's application server with web container. I am confused.
