PostGIS and the Global Wildfire Information System

Hans Pfeiffer from the ikoone – Data and GeoScience Lab Mapping presents at PostGIS Day 2021. Wildfire tracking can be really beneficial for risk analytics and climate change research. Hans has been working with the European Commission on a project mapping global wildfires, using NASA hotspot data filtered with land cover data. Hans shows some great examples of challenging problems like solving for geospatial areas with slope.
