GIS for Volcano:Enchancing the Capability in Using Geographic Information Systems in Central America

Rich in cultural customs and filled with beautiful natural landscapes, Central America is also home to a wide variety of volcanic ranges; Nicaragua alone, for example, has six active volcanoes within its territory. Though volcanoes are an exciting attraction, the unpredictability of volcanic eruptions remains a potential threat to the safety of residents nearby. To help ensure the safety of its people, the TaiwanICDF commissioned National Central University and its Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research to assist the Nicaraguan government to monitor volcanic activity through the use of satellite monitoring and GIS technology.
