A Sad But COMMON Classic Car Restoration Story

Welcome back to Horsepower Warehouse!

Today I am going to introduce you guys to yet another Corvette project car, this time with a little bit of a background story. Our 65 convertible 365 HP car was purchased from a gentleman who unfortunately was unable to finish the restoration even after THREE YEARS of hard work. I'll explain my opinion on projects like this and like always we'll take a walk through the shop at the end.

Thanks for checking out my channel and please consider supporting us by hitting the Like + Subscribe buttons!

Hey there Junior,

I absolutely would like to see more restoration details, like the steps involved in removing the body from the frame. I think some aspect of the work details would be a nice addition periodically to your other content.

Kudos to you for taking the time to learn what is needed to do a clean restoration. Are there any good references out there that you like? I want to learn more.

Another potential video idea ... key points on the C2 to check for rust. Like, how does one check a birdcage, etc.

Thanks again for the great video.

Take care, try not to overwork yourself!

I just discovered you channel a few weeks ago. I love you’re channel, my first two Corvettes were C2 & C3’s. I now own a C8 and I
love it, I’m hoping to get a Z06.

Jr. you nailed it on cost and time on almost any car or truck etc. that starts with good intensions then reality sets in.
Cost overruns on any project really takes the wind out of any enjoyment! Man, that Marlboro red vett is stunning! I was not a big fan of that color, but wow that's sharp! To all those folks out there doing their own cars My hats off to you! Having the patience and time involved to see your car come back to life is no easy task. Just listening to the door close with a solid engagement, Perfect alignment is craftmanship. Gee that door came off easy Ha Ha but getting it back on right is another story. Thanks again Jr. for showing us around, Alway's interesting!

I agree with the idea of walking us through the way you approach a restoration, to me the more you show the better! Thanks for sharing this, really do enjoy it.

Absolutely love seeing your work, you do things exactly as I would do. I would like to see more c3's but always excited to see what you have going on. You should have your own TV show like graveyard cars!

Sad story is correct, knew a few guys that never finished projects but never parted with it, don't be ashamed, just do the car or truck justice what ever that is.

I like how you talk about when you take things apart you clean everything else and you grease or oil things that need to be lubricated for the proper reason it never gets done to me you sound like you are a pretty decent guy to make sure that things are done the the right way it takes the time and effort to make sure that is quality completed great job keep up the good work I am thinking about a C2 Corvette convertible high speed blue has to be a big block with black interior black top or a reddish brown interior with the same color top too cool too sweet I like this ride

Restoring a Corvette can be one of the most frustrating things in the world. When my project starts to feel that way, I step back, work on some of my writing or play some music until I can get myself calmed back down.

The black '66 427 is beautiful. And I whole-hearted agree with you about overspray!! Why recreate a shoddy paint job what was done at the factory?! Crisp, clean, clear lines are much more ascetically pleasing.
BTW - would love to see your work processes! The update is nice but seeing how you do your work would really benefit the channel, in my opinion.
Thank you for the videos.
