Showing some of the new equipment- mixture of old and new, propane and electric. This is a kettle RIMS, or K-RIMS system. Super excited about the versatility of this set up. Using the kettle as RIMS will keep the wort at stable temperature. For a more simple brew day, I can use the eKettle for BIAB. I’m also excited to use this controller and eKettle for kette souring beers. Lots of options out of this one set up. Kettle RIMS for the win. Instagram @ironroombrewing

I'm going to get a 1v econtroller and 20-gallon ekettle for 10 gallon BIAB batches. Can't wait. Thanks for the video.

Hey thanks for posting. I just purchased their 20 gallon kettle 1V. Pretty excited about setting it up. I think I’m just going to do a brew in a bag with compensation with Brewfather for BIAB. Again thanks for the post.

One question I’ve had since posting this video is if I use full volume of water throughout the mash, or if I use a normal mash to water ratio in the MLT with 2 extra gallons into the kettle, or just collect a 2 gallons from the MLT into the kette during recirculation. It’s a good question and honesty one I’m still experimenting with. I’ve brewed 4 or 5 batches on the system since this video and ran into stuck sparges when using smaller amounts of water in the MLT. Next batch I’m going to use full volume of water- including the sparge water amount- and see if that makes a difference. I also added a Blichman AutoSparge to help regulate water going in/out of the kettle to make sure the heating element was always covered. That has helped me from having to mess with the valves constantly but I think it’s also caused wort to be sucked from the MLT faster than preferred- leading to a compacted grain bed and stuck sparge. Using full volume may help combat this. We’ll see. So next time I’ll use roughly 4 gallons in the MLT, and roughly 4 gallons in the kettle and not sparge at all. I’ll post another comment to share the results.

Not sure if you can answer this or not but I’m looking at the two ekettle kit from SS Brewtech. They have the tc clamp set up so how do you whirlpool using the existing tc ports? On their standard kettle they have an attachment to install directly into the hole but nothing I could see for the tc style hole in the kettle. Does this make sense what I’m asking?

Why not just do brew in a bag, not being a know it all, I want to know the difference. BIAB just seems easier.
