Considering the dramatic *increase* this year in both sightings and encounters along the Florida coasts (where I live), I've gotten a little hesitant about going much more than knee deep. The number of sharks along our beaches has grown radically in the past decade, and it can be proven by taking a Cessna Skyhawk out and cruising along the beaches just offshore. It's a scary sight. It didn't look like this 10 years ago.
