Excellent point regarding the "hollow" stage! I learned the hard way about two weeks ago; next time we play that venue I will definitely put my cabinet on a stool or chair! I could feel it vibrating through my feet; everything resonates at adifferent frequency! Thanks for the insight

I appreciate the advice to keep the settings at the basic middle point and then adjust each to the room. 👂

I like to suspend my amp with a bungee cord to the ceiling; in my experience, setting the amp on anything muffles certain bass sounds and now I can’t unhear it!

James, I agree 100% regarding keeping it simple! I have a TH500 also and 90% of gigs I DI direct through the PA (only use a speaker at outdoor gigs) and use in-ears, so much easier to manage the sound you want to hear - our PA has individual channel mixers so I can turn the 2 guitarists down and kick/hight hat up !Lol!. The only pedal I use is a tuner, get all the tone control I need via the amp and Bass guitar controls. Also, I bet if we all ask 95% of folks attending gigs what the bass sound was like, they would say fine - REGARDLESS of what your equipment and bass is!

Brilliant... I've been playing for over 40 years and so much good stuff for me to take away here.
Also good to hear someone talk about the realities of lugging gear around and saying compromise is ok... Some of us are getting old and all that kind of weight thing matters! I use Markbass gear and play a Steinberger L2 for that very reason.

A great option for a good, reliable, portable bass amp is the new Fender Rumble series. I have the Rumble 100, which weighs only 22 lbs, and can be carried with one hand while carrying a gig bag or something else. It's loud enough for most club venues-probably up to a couple of hundred people. (I also have a Rumble 300 that I can use for bigger venues or outdoor gigs.) I typically DI it into the house system, and turn up the amp only loud enough for me to use as a monitor. The sound man then adjusts what the crowd hears (with my input) and what the band needs to hear from the bass in the monitors. That way it doesn't matter as much what settings you use on the amp itself.

I use an Ampeg rig and never have any of the issues that you described in ref to floor or chair. I never relied on hearing my Bass rig as much as feeling it. Interesting video, some good tips.

Good video. I like to keep all the eq pots at 12 all the times it's possible, love amps without too many knobs.

I use a Eich 2 x 12 combo and Fender jazz Ultra bass, two amazing pieces of equipment, the sound is incredible. We also use mp3 tracks and edit out bass & guitar, so we play live with the track, and because of this I find I need to alter my EQ regularly because tracks aren’t always the same level.

Thanks. Really interested in the practicality aspect of carrying around the MarkBass 2x10 cab. I've just had to carry my Fender Rumble 500 combo 400 yards and whilst it is light enough, the box shape is awkward and kept on rubbing on my leg, meaning I couldn't carry it with one hand. Can you carry the MarkBass 2x10 cab (which looks slimmer) in one hand without it rubbing on your leg? Like you, I carry the bass on my shoulders and gig bag with leads in other hand.

I use active basses. I usually keep my amp or Sans Amp tone controls straight up. I make most of my changes with the bass tone controls, or how and where I pluck the strings. Change the tone a little at a time or it will sound horrible.
