This is a video of flying inside the world's largest turboprop – the Antonov An-22 Antei. Join me on this incredible flight from Leipzig to Bremen on the An-22. The plane picked up a special bus shipment in Bremen and we flew back to Leipzig. A total of 20 strong crew operates the Antonov An-22, including 6 cockpit crew.

The An-22 is not only the biggest turboprop aircraft in the world but also it was the FIRST WIDE-BODY aircraft in the world! The plane is powered by four Kuznetsov NK-12 engines, each driving a pair of contra-rotating propellers with their unique sound.

The An-22 holds a Guinness World record with a max payload of 250 ton (551,156 lb). It is the only widebody freighter capable of operations at airports with unpaved runways or a remote airstrip.

This is probably my aviation highlight of 2020. I love to cover all these amazing and unique planes and the people behind the operation. They made aviation special!

There was a few question why the bus don't drive to Leipzig. The bus is destined to Baku, Azerbaijan. The An-22 plane made a tech stop to refuel in Leipzig as Bremen has a short runway. After refuel, it continue to fly the bus to Baku.

Although the AN-22 is amazing, those signatures on that painting for that kid is priceless beyond words.

Who doesn't love a Soviet era aircraft? There is something so unique about them, I especially love their green cockpits

Hope all crew guys are safe during this horrible wartime.

The best place in this plane is the navigator's one. What a view!
And most of all, he touches the ground before everyone else, captain included...

I like the fact that they are good sports and signed the kid's drawing, that speaks well about the crew. Good job guys and stay safe.

So the An-22 flew directly over my school before she landed at Leipzig Airport and the sound of the turboprops was awesome and so loud👍🏻

Utter and total respect for these gentlemen. They don't land the aircraft, they wrestle it to the ground. Bravo!

The aircraft has to be that big and powerful in order to carry the massive balls of all the flight crew.

It was such a thoughtful gesture of you to have the crew sign Noah's painting. That was a gift like no other!

The amount of people in the comments confusing this AN-22 turboprop with the jet engine AN 225 is too damn high.

I admire all the pilots and crew that fly the Antonov airplanes...An22, AN124 and AN225.There is nothing else in the world like them.

AN 22 A is gorgeous, so dose AN 225, then again AN 124. Their shear presence and extra ordinary looks says it all. Love the cockpit.

Taking off is impressive...Flying it is great...Landing it however, now that's awesome. Much respect to the team of pilots who command this behemoth.
