Lead has different hardnesses and different levels of darkness. Japan has a huge variety of leads.

i use pentel hi polymer super lead, very hard to break and smooth writing, also cheaper than other leads

I use a kura toga. I don't use matching lead, but it works perfectly for what i use mine for.
