Marlin TMC2209 Resonance Noise Tuning

preview_player
Показать описание
Using hybrid mode to switch to spreadCycle mode before the resonance frequency of the printer. Can be tuned further with different chopper settings.
the { 3, -1, 5 } timings are now a preset in the marlin-bugfix branch called CHOPPER_09STEP_24V

Had also resonance sound at speeds from F2700-F3300 at my selfmade CoreXY. Tried mechanical dampers and really was surprised about the difference. Just watch the shaft length, because those dampers are 6mm in height. Drivers are TMC2130

Whow, thanks for that. Fighting this noise for days on a CoreYX, first I thought its a work out linear rail. At least I know the source now, just need to figure out how to fix that with Klipper.

Excellent, very helpful. I'm fighting a similar resonance . Thanks

I had the same problem. I just installed some dampers and the problem was solved by that

i am kind of suprised, on paper the tmc 2209 should be better than the 2208, but when i had both a neptune 3 using 2208 and now a anycubic vyper using 2209, the difference in sound is crazy,
the neptune 3 was silent, the moves where literally dead silent even at 180mm/s speed there was only a slight humm from the rollers rolling
the vyper on the other hand has the same noise profile your video has, at 150mms it was already alot louder than the neptune ...
the drivers run in stealthchop by default .. but even on spreadcycle they where way noisier

Are you running this in Marlin or Klipper?
I have a problem getting my stealthchop to work in klipper so I was wondering if you have advice on getting that to work? Instructions are very scarce.
Nice printer btw. looks really neat

I managed to get X, Y, and Z all dialed in, but I just cant get my extruder right for the speeds I want. It sounds bad on high speed retractions/detractions.

my drivers on klipper produce a horrible kick when switching to spreadcycle after some speeds
this option seems to help a bit

Do you know how to tune like this in Klipper? I adjusted my printer firmware using your video for when it was running Marlin, but now I just switched to Klipper yesterday, and I cant seem to get them quiet and smooth like I was able to with Marlin.

Does the noise have to do with the fact that it's microstepping that doesn't have good enough sine waves? I know they use 256 microsteps per full step, so that the sine waves are not perfect and their waveform has tiny steps. If they can push the limit a bit further to let's say 512 or even 1024 microsteps per full step, it may eliminate the noise. If you substitute the stepper motor with a DC brush motor, it would have been perfectly quiet! So it means the origin of the noise came from stepping action.

Hi. Where can I change the F number in Marlin? I only found the lines "#define STEALTHCHOP_XY #define STEALTHCHOP_Z #define STEALTHCHOP_E"

don't you get a crazy high pitched buzzing noise when you go full spreadcycle even when motor is on hold.

I _really_ wish people who record videos with mono audio would just sum to stereo, instead of having only one channel. I often watch with just one cup of my headphones on, and was really confused for the first minute...

i have the same noise when you used f8000 but only while travelling at 150 mm/s. what is your homing feedrate and homing current?

Would those timings also be applicable when using a 12v psu ?
Got the same issue :
Blv mgn cube
Skr pro 1.1
TMC 2209 v1.2
Stepperonline 0.9 steppers on X and Y
