I’ve had excessive ferritin levels for more than ten years now (between 1000mg to 2000mg) my HFE test was negative. All my consultant tells me to do is lose weight and avoid alcohol and my iron levels will normalise. I had a recent Fibroscan the results of which are 304 - 6.8 showing liver problems. I’m a fit 69 year old (I can run 5k in 30 mins) and dieting regularly etc but, meanwhile, why won’t they give me phlebotomies to reduce my iron levels?

Would be great to have a few typical test questions on the clip topic at the end of the clip.

I eat steak regularly (few times a week) and am not going to do the bloodletting treatment. I have the heriditary gene. Male. When can I expect to encounter symptoms and will it reduce my life expectancy?? (c282y)
I cannot find any studies that suggest (or reliably indicate) that life expectancy will be at all reduced in the majority of cases where people have this gene.
