But you seem willing to adjust. I think that’s the biggest key. I don’t have a lot of experience with Mustangs, but do have a lot with livestock and animals in general. Just have to figure out what each animal is comfortable with and go from there. My first Mustang was a yearling from Devil’s Garden HMA within two weeks I could lead her around and pick up her feet. My second is from Eagle Nevada and she has proven much more of a challenge. It took two weeks to even touch her on the neck with the back of my hand. If I tried to touch her with the front she would bolt. Three months later I can brush her and put a saddle pad on her but the saddle is still scary at times. I have the rest of my life to get her under saddle, so no hurry. I thought after the first one I had a good handle on the whole gentling thing and wanted a challenge so I decided to try a six year old. As the saying goes “ be careful what you pray for, you might get it.”
