How to be a climate activist | Workshops with Extinction Rebellion

On October 7th 2019 Extinction Rebellion is organizing a worldwide rebellion to draw attention to the Climate Emergency. Be part of it!

Extinction Rebellion (XR) is the world’s fastest-growing non-violent climate movement. In the face of a climate breakdown and a global loss of biodiversity, XR’s goal is to mobilize citizens and to pressure world leaders to act against this ecological emergency.

XR has three clear demands and 10 principles. To draw attention to climate change, XR uses only peaceful, mass civil disobedience stunts.

XR is teaching different tactics of civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance. The Ecosia team participated in one of XR’s workshops on how to be a climate activist.

Guys remember that animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all transport combined, going plant-based (ideally vegan)would really help the environment. Meat and dairy can easily be switched out for alternatives nowadays.

Thank you so much! My family and I do our part for the environment but I still don't think I've done enough. I'm still in school and I live in Ireland and I am a part of the green schools in my school and I am helping out with the ocean assembly which is being hosted by my school. And yet I still want to do more. Any suggestions?

My way of doing this act today is planting around my favorite plants and trying to find seed from trees to spread them out. I wish I had my group here in my city in Brazil, most of people in big cities are not interested in nature at all, it is only about cars and smartphones (T . T )

Protest ist good to generate publicity but we need more knowledge about the climate crisis and that there are ways to fight against it without causing huge harm to the majority of people. The last thing we need is a lower class on the afd side because the actions against climate change would mainly harm the poor.

Without a doubt given the evidence-based research and now common knowledge everyone who is concerned about climate change should also be working to encourage individuals and governments to transition away from animal agriculture and its products.

Ich finde die arbeit von XR gut weil die es verstanden haben wie dringend die klima Krise ist. Jedoch würde ich wenn ich Leiter von ecosia währe aufpassen das ecosia nicht mit Randale usw. In Verbindung gebracht wird da das Nutzer abschrecken könnte. Ecosia sollte meiner Meinung nach der großen Masse zugänglich sein damit dementsprechend auch mehr Bäume gepflanzt werden können :)
