There was a random hula hoop at my gym today, I picked it up, tried it, sucked badly but had so much fun. I remembered how much I used to love hooping as a kid. So, now I’m here! I wanna get better and keep the fun going. Thank you for this channel& all that you do🙏🏾

Great tutorial. I started hooping a bit over two months ago and have been trying to work tbose push points. I gave up on the push points early on because I didn't have the core development (even though this is a beginner topic.) I stuck to the basic pulse which got me to keep the hoop up. In the past couple of weeks, I started to become more aware of these contacts, though still not using them, just aware that they exist and I could locate them. This tutorial actually got me to consciously start using them for the first time. This made me feel more confident as a hooper today, and I feel I've achieved one of the most basic foundational skills that is going to bring me to the next level. Thanks for all that you do.

The tip about feeling the points of pushing was so helpful! I can now hoop around waist as long as I wish.

If the hoop is the right size and weight this comes naturally, it is second nature for most humans just like clapping your hands to the rythm of music. Some people have to learn but for most ppl it comes naturally by intuition, body awareness and basic coordination.

Okay wow, I finally learned how to keep the hoop on my waist for over 30+ seconds! What I did before was turn the hoop to the right to start and did not work. I turned the hoop to the left and it worked!!!

I just have to say...you are darling...and I LOVE your accent. As for hooping...YEARS ago (about 10 or so) I bought a hoop from a local hooping group (The Hooper Troopers...how cute is that!!??) and had very little trouble keeping the hoop up...in fact, I would watch an entire tv show while I hooped...my feet would even fall asleep if I didn't pay attention and move around!! But about 5 years ago, I began to have major back problems. I had to quit working as a dental hygienist, because I couldn't walk, stand or sit without a lot of pain. I gained a LOT of weight, partially because I wasn't able to exercise at all, needless to say. Fast forward 5 years...I have found that hooping and using a recumbent bike are the only 2 things that I am able to do (I LOVE hooping, so this is a really great thing, after years of very few positives)...Here's the problem...I am now not able to keep the hoop I don't know if it is because of the weight gain, or what, but its very frustrating after easily knowing how to keep the hoop up, pretty much without even having to think about it!! I am using a hoop that has an inner diameter of 37.5 inches (39.5 inches outer diameter). Could it be too big? I'm at a loss...I have practiced and practiced and just cannot get it to stay up. I would think its like riding a bike...once you get the rhythm, or make the connection with the hoop, you don't "forget" how to keep the hoop up, but in my case, somehow, I have "forgotten"!!! Any advice would be appreciated!! And I am about to sign up for the 7 day Thanks so much for your videos!!!

Hi Deanne. Really, really enjoying your videos! I am a beginner and with your fabulous instruction, I am now able to keep hoop up for at least 60 seconds. I can rotate 360 too! I struggle to keep hoop up when attempting grape vine. The hoop seems to slow down at that point and I need to stop the grapevine in order to regain momentum. I heard that height and waist size can be used to determine hoop size. Do you have a chart or recommendation? Do you think my hoop might be too large? (Hubby made my hoop, so he can shorten if you advise). Thanks Deanne.
