The Undiscovered Set! | Schindler (mod. KONE) @ SkyCity, Auckland CBD

I’ve filmed the identical set in the main SkyCity building before, but I’m not sure if anyone’s ever gotten to this rear set yet! The entrance to these lifts is located right at the end of the SkyCity bus terminal. These elevators are also Schindler M-Series from 1996 that were modernised by KONE, but there are a few differences to the aforementioned main set. For one, this is a set of 3 compared to a set of 4 in the main building, and these seem to lead to slightly different places on levels 2 & 3 as well! Additionally, the ground floor in these lifts is denoted as L1, while in the other set it’s denoted as G — I assume it’s just for consistency’s sake as there doesn’t really seem to be a difference in incline between the two sections. This set loses the KHRL voice present in the other elevators, and the car I got features an odd glitch on the right-hand panel where L3 just does not show on the indicator! It shows it just fine on the left-hand indicator, though, so I’m not really sure what’s up… One thing I will point out is that the chimes and lanterns are actually original from when these were Schindler M. Something tells me these were installed akin to Queensland-style Schindler M-Series elevators, having custom lanterns/chimes, Dewhurst buttons (though I know for a fact these ones used native M-Series buttons originally), and different indicators (usually ECD, but I can’t tell with these lifts). Pretty interesting, if you ask me. And don’t worry — no obnoxious music dubbed over the ride this time; the music in the lift didn’t get flagged which is nice :)
