How to activate Resolve Studio 17
The first thing we need to do is download the Studio software from BM website. Link in the description below.
Click on Download now and select your OS. I’m on Windows so I’ll click on Windows. Then it’ll ask you to fill up details. You can either put your details in or just click on Download only button at the bottom left corner. It should start downloading shortly.
While the Studio software is downloading, let’s take a backup of our existing database. Open Resolve free version and Click on backup on the top left corner of the screen. Select a folder location to save the backup database. I like to change the filename so I know when I created the backup. Click on Save and Backup.
Click on ok when you see the notification of successful backup. Check the folder to ensure the backup database has been created. We can close Resolve now.
Now we need to uninstall the free version. Click on Windows and type res and right click on DaVinci Resolve then click on Uninstall. It’ll take you to the control panel. Scroll down to DaVinci Resolve then right-click to Uninstall. Click on Yes to start the process.
Hopefully, by now Resolve studio has finished downloading. Click on the Zip file and run the exe file by double-clicking on it. Click on Install and just follow the standard installation process.
Open DaVinci Resolve Studio and enter the activation key and click on activate. You should see a tick next to your activation key when its activated. Click on Start DaVinci Resolve and you should have access to all the Studio features.
If your software doesn’t automatically connect to the database like mine then click on restore on the top left-hand corner. Select the backup database and click on Open. This will copy the backup and create a new database. Give it a name and click on Browse to select a location for a new database. Click on Create and Restore. Click on Ok and you should see the new database now.
