I have heard about this big bazaar in the city center of Dambulla - but I ended up being in the wrong place for a tourist. I wanted to buy some fruits, but this place is only for wholesales. But I got treated so well by the locals, where I made a business, the guy gave me so many fruits for free on top of what I was asking for. This is another great example of Sri Lankan hospitality!

The Tuk Tuk guy dropped you at the wrong place...All the vegetables from around the country comes here and they do whole sale...but this is also a once In a lifetime experience which other tourists doesn't do..you did it..🤗🤗The place you should visit is the weekly fair..you can know the day from a local.

Davud Machan the deeper you go to the outbacks and villages the kinder and helpful the people are (simpler life styles and less of a grind than the cities)... a homestay at a villege home will give you a great experience. Something I love about and proud of as a Sri Lankan, is the hospitality. These people are not rich, but they don’t hesitate to share a bit of what they have with a complete stranger. And they do that with a big smile on their faces. Especially as a tourist, I believe you experienced this everywhere you travelled in the country.
