Thoughts on the upcoming Flexicon? Seems to allow all facets of workouts using bands. It’s a beast of a unit but it does appear to solve all issues with bands, minus the snapping potentials that will still happen no matter what.

imo you're better off doing split squats if all you have are bands

that said, if you are woried about getting into position you should look into vector athletics overload straps

did you get rid of your dumbbells? I've been doing atg split squats, holding a 20 or 25 in each hand, front foot elevated on step. These are good in that they work the quad/ham, but also the hip flexor of the trailing leg. Also squats on a slantboard are really good--just bodyweight or lesser band resistance makes this tiring. Obviously, you've noticed the perils/discomforts of trying to do standard types of squats using the bands.

Why don't you just stop using the step platform and just stand on the band. I know you said you like using the platform because it takes up the slack and increases the tension when doing other exercises. But maybe those few inches taken up by the platform are all you need to help get comfortably under the bar to do the back squat. Seems logical to me.

I've had no problem with back squats with a band, but I don't use a board or bar.

Just stand on the bands and wrap it around your neck over your shoulders. It's not that complicated
