Our SECRET WEAPON to Create Curves - Aluminum Catamaran Build Part 3

Показать описание

What wizardry allows us to construct a curvaceous, mad max-esque aluminum catamaran using perfectly flat plates? Join us for a deep dive into the dark art of bending aluminum, one of the coolest and trickiest parts of the build. We bust out the English Wheel, a highly specialized machine that I'll be getting to know EXTREMELY well, since we have 28 plates to form and it takes about an hour and a half to do each one. We've got our work cut out for us in this one, so lets dive in!

You guys are killing it on the new direction the Delos videos are going. I'm enjoying watching the build just as much as the cruising videos onboard Delos. Great job Brian and Kaza!

I have seen a few aluminium boats being built. I like this one over the others. The dry Aussie humor is priceless, but more importantly the end result will be a very strong boat because they know exactly what they are doing.

It seems that this is an outstanding group of men, in all regards. Supremely knowledgeable at their trade, kind, good natured, hard working, honest, fair, humble. So beautiful to see.

In woodworking and metal fabrication, there is no better feeling then when 2 pieces of material that you have been cutting and shaping come together and fit perfectly. Great job to the whole team!

I am seriously impressed by the quality of this build. I like the use of CNC for accuracy and speed of construction, but also the little touches to make the manual processes more accurate. It shows that a lot of planning went in to the design. Very impressive for a one-off build.

I really thought this Delos 2.0 stuff was going to suck and be terribly boring. But I'm fascinated. The level of skill displayed in this construction is off the charts. Great Job.

Hi Delos and tribe. As a tradey I would just like to make a big shout out the crew in the shop there. Every day, I have my nose rubbed in the eternal fact that the devil is in the details...And those guys are crushing it. And giving the odd laugh for the camera too....Proper, proper blokes...Keep well everyone. Unbelieveable, unmissable content. COME

Never in a million years did I think I would ever say, "What a beautiful skeg!" But there it is. The lines on that skeg are simply beautiful. I am thoroughly enjoying this build like I haven't any other. Between fiberglass, carbon, epoxy, vinyl ester, wood, foamboard, in every possible combination, this aluminium build takes the cake.

I'm surprised your viewers don't also watch Sailing Into Freedom. Plucky is building an aluminum cat in Bason Shipyard in Thị Vải, Vietnam. The Odisea 48 team uses an English wheel, also. Being Australian, he would’ve loved to build his cat in Australian, but it was cost prohibitive. The small frame Vietnamese are excellent at getting into tight spaces to weld. It's exciting watching the similarities and differences. I love that I can understand Australians. Vietnamese, not at all.
Thanks for sharing.
