Sony A7s SLOG 2 VS PP OFF

Quick test comparing the resulting footage trying to make SLOG2 look closer to PP OFF

Sony A7s - Atomos Shogun - Rokinon Cine 85mm - Fotodiox EF adapter - 77mm Tiffen .6 ND

4K footage downsampled to 1080

SLOG2 recorded to the shogun had to be corrected to 15-235
SLOG2 is very noisy so neat video was applied
SLOG2 is very soft so a lot of sharpening was added to "match" PP OFF

neat video was very effective but with the noise reduction and softness of SLOG2 the SLOG2 footage is significantly softer than the PP OFF footage
the PP OFF footage retained a lot more fine detail in the teddy bear

I ran into this as well on the A7iii. I have a feeling it's the fact PP7 is set to Detail -7, and PP OFF is Detail 0 pretty much. I'm going to test but I'm almost certain if you put Detail to 0 it'll be even. Although you can get "some" detail back in post, you will never get back the raw detail captured in camera that gets compressed. When you sharpen in post you are also sharpening the noise, at least with Premiere. Some may say the softer look is more cinematic but who's to say, idk.
