The BEST Form Of Vitamin B12 For Thyroid Problems

What is the best way to get vitamin b12 shots if you have a thyroid problem? You have 3 mains options:

#1. Oral capsules or tablets.
#2. Sublingual B12.
#3. Vitamin B12 shots.

For thyroid patients, the best option is usually to use B12 shots because these bypass the intestinal tract which is often the source of issues for thyroid patients taking oral and sublingual B12. B12 shots enter straight into your body and bypass first-pass metabolism.

No matter which route you use, make sure you stay away from cyanocobalamin and try to get at least a high-quality form like methylcobalamin.

Dr Westin Childs - I question your information on this video . . .
The more naturally occurring Methylcobalamin shots also require oral Adenosylcobalamin to be taken for conversion. Whereas either synthetic Cyanocobalamin or Hydroxocobalamin have already been converted to be accessible for the body to use immediately and with effect (without the necessity of Adenosylcobalamin too) All of these methods require an oral input of Folic Acid (B9) to keep it high accordingly and work hand in hand (B12 shots and Folic Acid) for adequate treatment and healing with B vitamins and RBC count re Iron, Ferritin etc - amongst other blood test results that require monitoring or investigation.
I also have had Hypothyroidism for over 20 years so this is an interesting subject for me. I have developed numerous autoimmune disorders over the years including B12 deficiency. Over the past 3 years, I self inject a daily dose of Hydroxocobalamin 1mg + cofactor oral Folic acid daily at the moment in order to remain on top of my neurological symptoms that had been of concern for a considerable time. No help or support from my GP or Consultants. I am happy that I took my own health in hand ultimately as I would have been in a very sorry state by now if I hadn't.
Enjoy your channel and information but just find this post questionable and would be interested in your feedback.

I am thrilled to hear all that as I learned this in years and in a hard way. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 2004 and b12 gave up in 2012 and every single item Dr. Westin mentioned was a struggle getting across my primary physicians. My issue is to get the supply of Methylcobalamin shots for my weekly 1000 mcg needs.

What about thyroid patients who also have MTHFR? The shots are not the same as methylcobamalin....so what can we do?

What about IV’s? I have the opportunity to add them with my Vitamin C IV treatments

I'm thyroidless and have been taking your brilliant advice for years now.

My question is; how do I know when to stop taking the supplements you suggest (selenium, cod liver oil, magnesium, iron, zinc, B12) or do I continue taking these every day for the rest of my life?

Thanks!

In my case I got my B12 levels to normal through injections but once they were normal I can maintain them by having the under the tongue tablets.

I wasn't aware that B12 was an issue! Yet another thing we're not told about!

My vitamin A is consistently low & my eyes are suffering.. so is my skin. What can I do besides liver eggs & cod liver oil I’m taking in so much of those with bile salts..

Have heard other practitioners say that serum b12 is meaningless as an indicator of whether you are deficient or not. And my serum levels are high, which I assumed was from eating lots of animal foods. How do you assess B12 sufficiency if serum B12 isn’t a good indicator?

Wouldn't taking betaine hydrochloride or enzymes help to digest the Vit B

Seems like getting a shot of B-12 every week would be rather expensive, considering the cost of a doctor visit?

Can lack of B12 cause depression and muscle/tendon problems in hypothyroid patients?

My latest blood test showed my B12 is very high at around 1500 and the outside range was 300 less than that. I have been taking a methel B12 lozenge then also has folate. Does this high amount mean my body is utilizing it and has a whole lot extra so I should pull back on taking it. I did pull back on taking it every day, but I’m also in mind of my possible low intrinsic factor so possibly, I’m having issues with iron, being vitamins, and such. I am taking a product called zypan by standard process, which is supposed to replace intrinsic factor. I just get so confused. I seemed to have had pernicious, anemia symptoms, but I don’t know.
