MPC Live 2!...the fact that you can take it with you to the bathroom and finish your beat while taking a 💩 is amazing!!

I think this line of MPC’s will be viewed as legendary 10 or 20 years from now. The comeback of AKAI vs Maschine. The return to standalone with built in daws and effects. The price to power ratio of the mpc one. The built in speakers and battery powered portability of the live 2. Responsible for pulling alot of producers and casual users away from point and click production. It really is legendary already.

If you asked me this a month ago, I would have said the Live 2 but I recently pulled out my X and maaaan I missed all the dedicated buttons. I have them all and hands down it’s the X

All of them for me but the Live II gets the most work. I carry it everywhere. Being that I play keys, the Key 61 is a deal maker. Plus, it reminds me of the ASR-10. I remember asking Akai about an Mpc with a keyboard. The rep told me in 2008 they couldn’t discuss it. I think they did well for the first version. Next, I would imagine an 88 Key with a flip screen and more knobs and buttons. I absolutely love the Mpc X. It’s like working on a space age Mpc 3000/4000 mixed. Mostly because of the form factor. With each unit, I get a different feel. I feel R&B with the Keys, hip hop with the X and a little of both with the Live II. But I can do everything with either machine. Hard to say, but I would probably choose the Live 2 if I could only have one, but the X looks so I’ll sitting there like the boss…Great video @bolodaproducer

I'm using the mpc one standalone and I haven't turned my computer on for so long and I'm so happy I did. It helps me sample anything with my phone and let's me do anything I can do :)

"Best" is subjective to the user I think but my personal favs are the 4K, 2KXL and 2500. 👍🏾

One day I may try some other kind of hardware, but I'll ALWAYS love the MPC. All the producers I'm inspired by have used them. RZA, DJ Muggs, Havoc, Swiss Beatz, Alchemist, 9th Wonder, many.

Great video! I sold my Live II and regretting it although have a Key 61 on the way.
Will buy another Live II as I think having both is a good balance between the studio and portability.

MPC Live 2 all day everyday. I like the extra tactile button functions on the other machines. But who needs them if you gotta wait to get back to the studio/or home to cook?

I loved the 2500, I really liked the thickness of the sampling of the 4000. I tried the the key61 and liked it but brought it back because it was buggy. I see they improved . (Sometimes I regret bringing it back..no cap) maybe I’ll get it again in the future. But I’m thinking of getting the live II first.. we’ll see

MPC has it on the hardware and software, Maschine still has it on the sounds and plugin sound quality. I have an MPC Live 1 and Live 2, and the Maschine+, and I can tell you hands down, the Maschine+ just sounds amazing, the stock plugins and expansions are cutting edge. If NI just released a comparable piece of hardware (touch screen, modernize the UI, allow Kontakt libraries), they would force Akai to step up their software game. Air also needs to port Xpand 2 to standalone MPC, and Akai needs to open up the software to allow more than 8 plugins. I know this isnt a comparison between NI and Akai, but I feel like it needs to be mentioned. I dont have the MPCX, I cant justify the 50% price difference for additional knobs and buttons, a 10 inch (vs 7 inch) tiltable display, and a little extra IO. The expanded hard drive support is a must for me, I have almost every Akai expansion and my own collections I have purchased and sampled and using an sdcard isnt going to cut it. The MPC 3.0 software changes everything for me, as a person who uses the MPC for what it was not intended for, linear writing is absolutely a must for me. Not that it wasnt possible with v2, v3 brings linear track writing to the forefront and I feel like makes the MPC a tool for serious musicians who write full fledge songs that dont just involve track mutes and minor adjustments to each sequence, because, I use my MPC to sketch orchestral musical ideas on the go. Not to detract from people doing "beats", that takes it own specal skill, the MPC could be so much more than just a "beat machine" and v3 firmware is a step in that direction. For people doing orchestration, imagine an MPC Keys 88 with realistic strings, brass, winds, and orchestral percussion, in standalone mode. There is no keyboard on the market with the capability of a DAW, and Akai now has something very, very close. The closest thing, and it isnt even close, is the Yamaha Motif XF series of keyboards...

Great video. I would love all 3. But I have my sights on the X and Live 2 for exactly what they were meant for. It will be a big jump for me, from an MPC2000 to today's MPC.

"... which of the newer MPCs do I like the most? ... And the answer is: All off 'em!"
LOL 😂You made my day. Best answer ever!

I Iove my my Live 2 as well. I returned my MPC one and settle for the live 2. Its easy to turn it on and off without worrying about the cables and battery. It's the real PORTABLE machine.
