I saw life of Brian too but nothing can replace the original Monty Python. It was a class in it itself and I'm sad that so many of the actors had such a hard time playing it! 😢

The ending is hilarious. People have noted the similarities with the Blazing Saddles ending. I heard Elvis Presley was a huge fan and had watched the movie so much he could recite it verbatim.

Life of Brian was BY FAR their best work . Its commentary alone elevated it above Holy Grail, which was brilliant but pure farce .

Yes Life of Brian is the best movie, but this has something special that I think it opens it up to more people.

This movie was also incredibly low budget. It ended up costing about £200, 000. The budgetary constraints were also the reason why they were mimicking the galloping while they were banging coconuts together. Eric Idle, himself, once said that their lack of money was very good for comedy. Their entire budget came from donations from several rock bands of the time. Bands like Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Genesis.

John Cleese also wasn’t happy with Terry Gilliam’s role as co-director. Gilliam is a visual artist and took the look of the film seriously, sometimes over and above the comedy. Life of Brian was directed solely by Terry Jones. Gilliam later directed some of my favorite films, but he was frequently handicapped by his uncompromising artistic vision.
