My thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra carrier deals. Unless I'm missing something, then this is how I understand them. I attempt to explain them a bit so you at least know what you're getting into when you do one! Don't trade anything in that's valuable!!

Make sure you know what you are getting into!

Here's a fun fact - you can stack a trade in with a nextup turn in, meaning if you want to upgrade in 18 months instead of 36 you can just turn in your current phone, get your phone, and then purchase a cheap old Samsung 2nd hand for usually less then an 100~ bucks to again get the 1000 off credit and have no monthly payment

I pre-ordered this phone but I really don't think this is going to sell this year a lot of people are upset because of the trade-in deals

I saw I had to change my plan, did not want to do that. I bought from Samsung directly. Thanks for explaining it more clearly. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

I have TMobile and I didn't have to switch to magenta Max to get the Ultra. They kept me on my grandfathered plan (ONE plan unlimited 55) of just $30 per month unlimited. And they gave me $400 trade in on my old A51 so I feel pretty good about it. What an upgrade

Totally agree! I got the S22U 2 months ago even if it's the Exynos version (i live in Europe), or the S23 line was close to being launched, because I found a really good deal for it during Black Friday (400 Euros off the normal price). The ratio between the price, the build quality and the functionalities that it has is the reason I don't care what chip it has or that it's not as fast as a Pixel. But if S23U, with the price and the processor it has, performs the same or slightly better than the S22U, then imo the buyers should feel robbed and have every reason to complain...

Something I"ve noticed is the carriers are now offering free storage upgrades. Normally Samsung is the only one that does this.

I know this is in Ireland but the deal is the same. The last phone I bought on contract was the note 20 ultra. It cost €700 and it was €65 a month for 24 months. Total €2260. I bought the s22 ultra outright for €1400 and I pay as I go for €10 a month, for unlimited everything. Total €1640 for two years.

Amazon and best buy have the s23 ultra 12gb ram 512gb memory for 1200 and you also get a $100 gift card. Seems fair, as fair as one could be in today's economy.. I'm guessing they don't want the trade ins this year compared to last, perhaps dealing with the chip shortage or realizing they gave too good of deals last year idk..

Why anyone would trade in a phone 1-2 years old is odd to me, but I guess some people enjoy throwing money at every new bell and whistle.

There has been a big change to the carrier support for the US variants. Previously, you could use a foreign SIM card, but that is no longer the case, as Samsung is cracking down and restricts US variants to only allow US SIM cards to be used.

So, I took the hook! I was going to buy a used note 10 plus as I weaned myself off of wired headphones in preparation for the day when I would have to get rid of my s9plus. But I was going to end up paying close to 400 for a "new" or "like new" note 10 plus off of ebay or Amazon. And I still don't know how to account for security updates once their done. So I decided to take the $800 credit from Verizon, through Samsung, and wind up paying $400 for the s23 ultra when it's all said and done. I was also already on the highest plan with Verizon plus additional storage, insurance, the works, so I wasn't planning on changing anytime soon. I decided if I love the s23ultra, great, it will be supported for quite some time. If not, ill use the time I have with it to learn how to keep an old phone bug free and buy a note 9 plus, which is what I really wanted because it has a 3.5mm jack and SD card slot.

We have a similar deal here in NZ, with trade in on an S 22 Ultra / Fold 4 device - but I can pay off the phone after one year while keeping the benifits...

Carrier Deals/Promotions? It's a trap! It's always a trap

I pre ordered a galaxy s23 ultra.

i received the phone . I also mailed in my note 9 as a trade it a week later.

However, att will not issue my credits by reducing my approximately $33 a month payment to $5 per month.

I have tried several time to call AT&T to get this resolved.

i have gone through 4 billing cycles and have still not received my credits.

AT &T is claiming that they did not receive my returned phone in time to issue the credit.

However, i provided att with a picture of the USPS ticket AND a tracking number. which states that i shipped the phone well within the alloted time.

How can i receive my correct credit?

I know some people I may be most people by on plans, but if I don’t have the cash to buy a phone, I just don’t buy it and I wait till I have it saved up

Sir, you are right. I don't know the deal but Samsung is pushing people in signing with carriers, that was my conclusion.
