In today's Blender 2.8 tutorial I want to show you how to create quick, 360 turntable animation setup using an Empty Object and some basic Eevee lamps. As always, Blender is a free and open-source 3D tool of the future! b3d for life!

In case you're wondering why isn't it better to simply rotate an object on the floor - from my personal experience it's just an easier and less error-prone method to rotate the camera (plus lights) since it's just a single object you have to worry about. When rotating stuff "on the ground" you quite often work with multiple meshes (each one would have to be parented to Empty), you may want to re-arrange them or even animate individually - that makes things much more complex if you'd be adding a 360 turntable motion on top of all of that.

One tip, if you want your video to be smooth transition when repeating, select at the end one more key frame, in this video would be 301. Doing that first and last frame won`t be the same, the the transition would be smooth when animation will be in loop.

There is a built in Turntable add-on in Blender just activate it. Only thing is that in dope sheet you have to select all key frames and then press T for interpolation and set it to Linear

From a beginner's perspective, the best explanation for doing this method instead of rotating the object is because for higher item counts, it becomes very tedious to rotate everything in the scene. Using this empty and parenting the lights and camera is one of the simplest methods for a more complex scene than shown in the video..
