Why I've Stopped Worrying About the Future (and you should too.)

There was a time in my life where I worried constantly. I went to bed worrying and woke up with the same worries going through my mind. My stress levels were high and I'm pretty sure this constant anxiety led to episodes of chest pains I've dealt with from time to time. It seemed to me at the time that worrying was just a part of the human existence.

Fortunately, in recent years, I've been able to come to a new realization. After hours and hours of reading, listening to podcasts, watching videos, and talking with friends, I've finally realized this simple truth: Things just seem to work out in life.

Whether or not we spend hours worrying or not, things just seem to work out in our favor 85% - 90%
of the time. Embracing and truly believing in this truth has allowed me to stop worrying so much and instead use that mental energy to shape and design my dream life. And you can do the same in your life!

I told my dad that one time. “How come every one keep getting these big blessings and I haven’t?” He told me…”you’re so focused on that big blessing, yet overlooking the small blessings you’re receiving everyday” that’s so true!!!

im gonna say something that may sound stupid. But sleeping well, exercising and eating healthy resets your brain. All of a sudden, you start feeling like things are gonna work out.

I get so much anxiety over money, how am I gonna pay my bills etc…but then I think I’ve never been so bad off that I don’t have a roof over my head and I cannot eat. It always somehow works out. I’ve been through plenty of rough times but can’t ever give up and yeah it will always work out.

I also think that the mindset "it will work out" in itself is what just reduces problems to a minimum. Right now, we live in a time (depending on where and how you live) where our existence really isn't in danger due to life-or-death scenarios. And if you think about it, once you get into such a scenario, your body will automatically do everything it can to survive. Worrying is a byproduct of a brain that tries to predict future outcomes, which is a fascinating thing and it's very useful - however, in many cases and situations, that trait becomes maladaptive.

Back in the 90s we used to live on rice and soy sauce or sugar when my parents' paycheck was only enough to cover our bills... I'm 33 now still alive and kicking. If things worked out before, they will work out again. ❤

What I have always told myself is, every choice I made in life - good, bad, right, or wrong - got me to where I am today. And Life is good. So I don't worry about it anymore. It's gonna work out.

I used to have this thing I called the "10 Year Rule" during college. Finals were coming up and I was stressed af for fear of failing a couple classes.

Then out of nowhere a thought came to me that "No matter if I pass or fail my exams, 10 years from now it won't even have an impact on what Im doing at that time. And I probably won't even rmr wtf I am stressing about right now."

Well last year was the 10 year anniversary of me coming up with the rule in 2012 and I was right. No idea which exams had me sweating or what grade I even got on them.

This rule can and should be applied to everything in life that has you feeling like your world might crumble tomorrow. 10 years from now, you most likely won't even remember or at the very least care about your problems today. Just do the best you can in your current situation and keep moving forward no matter how it turns out. The rest will take care of itself.

Bro, you have no idea how much I needed to hear this. I’ve noticed that every undesirable situation I’ve been in where I didn’t think I was gonna get out of it, I ended up getting out of it one way or another (a lot of the times unexpectedly). Then when I look back and look at my mentality when I was stuck in those situations, I think “wow, all that worrying was for nothing..”. That’s happened about 4 times now. I’m still stuck in a new undesirable situation that I have no control over, but this time I’m trusting God and just gonna do my part. He’s brought me out of tough spots before, he’ll bring me out of this one too.

Case in point, I did NOT get my dream job in the city that I chose to live in. Days later, I received a better job offer in a nicer city on the coast. It just kind of worked out…the Universe had something better for me.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 6-7, NKJV). I'm learning to TRUST God and His Promises! He works it out!

Everyday, I remind myself that "things are always working out for me" and that "there is nothing serious going on here". I learned these from Abraham Hicks, and it is right in line with what you are saying! Great video.

1. You can’t make people do something they don’t want to.
2. It’s not your responsibility to “make” others do things.
3. Pain is eduction. The faster you learn from your pain, the faster your pain is relieved.
4. Plan for what you can, and be ready to abandon your plan when it fails.
5. Practice for pain. Fear homelessness? Go camping or sleep in your car on purpose. Fear getting into a fight? Take a Krav Maga class. Fear getting dumped? Spend some time alone doing stuff like dining alone or going to the movies alone. Practice for pain so that you aren’t surprised when you’re in it.
