I have been with navy for about 3 years now. I went a little bit different route. 3 days after I joined Navy Federal, I applied for More Rewards I got a $1, 000 limit. That was my highest limit card at the time. 18 months later, following the 91/3 rule, I had three credit cards with them maxed out at the $80, 000 credit limit. And after 9 increases. I got my first card with the $5 in my savings account I had to put in when I joined. About three months in, I did a 6-month pledge loan. When that was completed, I did a three-year pledge loan. The only money I have in my savings account is $10 to set up to auto pay the pledge loan. No CD's, no checking line of credit, no direct deposit. I don't use Navy Federal for a bank at all only for the credit products about a year-and-a-half ago I took out a $21, 000 personal loan with collateral. My credit score has fluctuated between 700 and 750 during this time. Basically if you have a decent credit profile no relationship needed. If you have a rather thin credit profile the relationship will help you. So there's more ways than one to skin a cat. 😂

I just applied for a Navy Fed credit card and I was surprisingly shocked that my starting limit was 11K and I plan on asking for a credit increase in December

Best breakdown by far on NFCU. I have been utilizing this bank for a year and have been highly impressed by them.

Great video Cal, I really enjoyed the editing. I don’t know much about Navy Federal Credit Union, but I know that they’re good!

The max limit across all accounts is $80k

The max on each individual card is $50k except for the flagship rewards. The flagship rewards card's max is $80k

I think he meant the max starting limits in the video. In that case, I believe he is correct. I haven't heard of any starter limits above $30k

Remember though the internal score is nothing more than how you scored on that credit card application. It isn't used anywhere else like mortgages car loans personal loans Etc only that credit card application. It's not how well you're doing with Navy Federal it's just how you scored on that application

You do not have to pay 90% of the Pledge loan off to get your money back. Whatever amount you put up for the pledge loan you get back right away.
Here's how the pledge loan works. You put $250 in your savings account Navy Federal put a hold on $250 then loans you $250 so you get your money back right away. Then each time you make a payment for instance $25 they'll knock $25 off that hold and couple of days later you'll see that $25 back in your account

All I did was open a flagship account then put $1500 so that I wouldn’t have to pay the service charge. After that I did a $100 bi-weekly direct deposit and left it alone for 3 months. After the third month I applied for the flagship credit card and got approved for $20k. Following that process I should be at $80k in 6 more months if I get above for a $40k limit on one of my next 2 cards with them.

Send NavyFederal a message about the internal score and you'll probably get an answer back something like this
Custom scores range from 100-450. Your score for your More Rewards American Express application was a 357. This score is only established when an application for a new credit card is submitted and it is only used to decision that request. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

One issue with your statement about the CC limits. I have both the Platinum and the Flagship cards with 33k limit on each one. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The limit for each card is more than 25k. I have the platinum 44k and more rewards 33k

Make sure those increased credit limits don’t come with increased APRs.

If you want to have better credit...finished paying off the debts made over the years. Next find a local credit union and take your money out of major banks and national credit union before these institutions goes bankrupt and take an extended bank holiday!
You stress levels and sanity, family will thank you for it and buy only what you need or nesscesary if you want to live better.

I think you said the highest limit on the NFCU cards is 25K. I have a Cash Reward card with a 33K limit and also the Flagship with the highest limit. But I hear that my Flagship can go higher but I'm not sure. NFCU is great though.
