Six midwestern men — all survivors of childhood sexual assault at the hands of Catholic priests and clergy — come together to direct a drama therapy-inspired experiment designed to collectively work through their trauma. As part of a radically collaborative filmmaking process, they create fictional scenes based on memories, dreams and experiences, meant to explore the church rituals, culture and hierarchies that enabled silence around their abuse. In the face of a failed legal system, we watch these men reclaim the spaces that allowed their assault, revealing the possibility for catharsis and redemption through a new-found fraternity in this documentary feature.

Directed by Robert Greene
In Consultation with Joe Eldred, Mike Foreman, Ed Gavagan, Dan Laurine, Michael Sandridge, Tom Viviano

This is SO important. Kudos to Netflix for taking men's trauma and mental health seriously. An issue that is often overlooked.

I went through trauma therapy a couple of years ago because I desensitized myself to the memories. It was a very difficult thing to do and so incredibly painful to force myself back into the memories. I can't imagine sharing that with the world. These people are very brave to do so.

"Tell your mother we're sorry"..."You tell her your sorry because she still believes in you"...Damn! That's some heavy dope right there.

In the 1960s many young teenage boys were abused by Scout Masters, Football Coaches, and Teachers. My friends told me what they did to them. My frightening experience came when a male Doctor tried to abuse me when I was 23 when I went to him with severe depression, and when I successfully resisted he told me he had the power to section me to a mental hospital.

I'm a Christian, I stopped being Catholic due to their lack of recognition and action against atrocities like those committed against innocent kids. I choose to be nondenominational now, because I believe in the teachings of Christ. I just don't trust people to lead anything without some form of evil seeping in.

No wonder why people hate us Christians. Shame on those priests.
Im so sorry. They had the chance to bring people nearer to God and his unconditional love. But they screwed it up.

And yet if I even mention stuff like this, I’m called anti-Christian. I mean…no, I’m anti pedophile, why are you defending these people and acting like they represent what you say you’re about?

It's sad that these people call themselves men of God. No wonder people hate us

I am not Catholic, have suffred no trauma, but I am an actor and cineast with a psychotherapist, ex-Catholic wife. Thihis fil, for me, is a Robert Greene masterpiece. I wanted to cry, laugh and scream from beginning to end. This was made with courage, foresight, creativity, collaboration, and skill. Kudos

It is SO brave to make it public!!! I do not hope- I am absolutely sure it will help to all the past, current and, unfortunately, future victims in one way or another…..!!! The importance of facing the issue and sharing it is tremendous! Continue to fight! May you get all the support you are all truly deserve! 🙏 Parents- Pay attention to your children and what they share with you! Teach your children to say “NO” to any authority if it feels wrong….! I pray for all the abused🙏

I wished I knew of someone making a documentary like this. I've never told anyone my full story of tragedy. I'm 55 and still live in constant paranoia and anxiety and never really got to recover. Thanks Mr. Policeman that didn't help me.

I'm a Catholic therapist so this just pulls at so many of my heart strings. It's a tragedy that the priest scandals caused so much suffering and distortions on the teachings of the Church and Christ. And seeing male sexual abuse survivors finally confront the places of deep shame is profound. Hard to watch the Church I love be such a place of harm, but so so grateful that God relentlessly pursues these men and granting them grace to find freedom. I already teared up at the trailer, I'm sure I'll weep when I watch this.

No one needs a middle person to reach God. God is there out and inside you. Just pray.

These Catholic Church members cover for these disgusting people they’re more worried about their image then the safety and well being of young children. This happens in churches that people are aware of and do nothing.
What these poor men went through as young boys is absolutely disgusting. How horrific!
Families put trust in churches when that’s not the ones to trust, school’s either!
