This was super helpful, thank you. I'm currently weighing both options and got quotes for both, but I'm thinking Invisalign is the way to go, despite the higher price tag. They were able to get the cost down by focusing just on the lower teeth and letting me pay all at once, so it's $3K versus $2.15K for SDC+retainer, and I think the dentist supervision is worth the extra cost. Thanks again!

I learned the hard way to always keep your back wire retainer. If it ever breaks - get it fixed ASAP. You'd be surprised how quickly a tooth can shift!

On my 4th month of a 5 month SDC journey. It’s been great, a little pain every time you change aligners which is to be expected but overall fantastic and I would strongly recommend SDC.

Starting my journey with Invisalign Mid April. Although Invisalign has an app, after making the commitment I feel like it's much better to go in-person for impressions to obtain a better/professional evaluation especially when you're investing both lots of time and money in having a nicer smile.

Finished my invisalign. Very happy with the results. Would always recommend having a dentist oversee the whole thing

SDC user here. I’m on my 5th month and my journey has been great! My teeth look great. I had the buckling also in the very beginning so I contacted SDC and they said it was normal. Here I am with one month left and my teeth are pretty much straight. All in all I would definitely recommend SDC. Also my treatment plan the aligners were all different thicknesses some were flimsy some were very firm.

I was going to go with smile direct, they told me everything was fine and I could proceed. Always get a second opinion, when I went to a top rated dentist that does Invisalign he told me a completely different story! Had I have gone with SDC I would have ended up with a underbite!!!

Thanks for your candid and genuine desire to want to help viewers. You appear very honest and humble. I believe Invisalign will be the way to go. I am even more uncertain of SDC now:)

I ended up a good Invisalign promo with my dentist. It was for $3249 with everything including recurring appointments and the entire treatment. My insurance paid for $1000 so I ONLY had to pay $2249 out of pocket. I'm on my 4th week of treatment and it is painful but I am better off than a cheap treatment plan without a dentist checking into my ortho progress

First, thank you for sharing your feedback on SDC & Invisalign. Very helpful for people who are not sure which aligner company is right for them. I am currently using SDC for 3 main reasons: Cost, Convenient & Lifetime warranty.
I was sold when I discovered that SDC would only cost $1950 for 6 months of treatment and DIY vs $5K + using competitor Invisalign. My teeth wasn’t egregious and I was a good candidate for SDC. My teeth wasn’t always misaligned and crowded until I had one extracted. I needed to have my teeth straightened prior to having the tooth implant which will also be an expensive procedure. Knowing how teeth will continue to shift throughout one’s life, the lifetime warranty gave me more confidence. SDC do have some aligners that are thinner/flimsier than others but luckily I never had an issue with them cracking. I think the thinner aligners were in the beginning (one week wear) and thicker aligners for (2 week wear). My teeth are straighter and whiter but I will need a touch up (more aligners) to complete my treatment. It’s a bummer because I was hoping to be done treatment by May 4th and enjoy the freedom of eating and drinking without the hassle of aligners. That will need to wait. Treatment over pleasure. I’m sure SDC will get better and more expensive in the coming years. It’s like buying a part for your Mercedes, you can go to Autozone spend a lot less on an aftermarket part and it may or may not work or purchase an OEM from Mercedes dealer and have a certified technician install it and pay a lot more. At the end of day, you get what you pay for.
Thanks again, I look forward to more of your videos

I don't really comment on YouTube videos, but I just start SDC, I wish I saw this first. For me the main motivation over Invisalign was the cost. I did notice immediate improvement after the first week. My teeth are pretty bad and am on a 7-month plan. There were a few spots in my teeth where flossing was very hard and would get stuck. After the first week I did not have that issue anymore. However the sensitivity from the teeth moving makes it harder to eat some foods like steak.

I am not sure how normal it is but I did notice with the first aligners that I received the plastic does curl outwards so it kind of pushes against your lips a little bit more and was pretty uncomfortable and annoying. My bottom aligner also doesn't sit close to the gum so my tongue can go underneath it a little bit and is very annoying. The quality doesn't seem to be very consistent so far at least between the two sets of aligners I have.

SDC does have an app that you can use to tell you when to switch aligners. They offer $100 off for military discount. I also received an additional $100 off because they were only supposed to take a week to give me a plan and it took them 3 weeks. So I paid $1, 700 in total all at once. The monthly payment version would have been more expensive.

I do kind of feel like I am starting to have some jaw issues. But I also have TMJ anyways. There are times with the aligners that I feel like I can't even put my teeth together. I do also have an issue where my lower jaw is slightly off to the side. At least this is what I have been told off the scan that they did of my teeth.

I am also supposed to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day but I also enjoy snacking and drinking coffee or drinks so I wear them throughout the night into the morning and then put them in later in the afternoon. So I probably wear them for about 10 to 15 hours a day but has still seen improvement.

Always talk to your dentist before you start ortho. Regardless if it’s SDC or invisilign. Moving teeth too quickly can cause root absorption and improperly aligned teeth can cause TMJ problems. Better to be safe than sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️

I did what you did.... started with SDC. I was trying to be cheap. I got what I paid for... NOTHING. The aligners never really fit well. I was having to get new sets often. And the time was always extended. I have lots of crowding. SDC didn't work for me. It was definitely a bad investment. I am doing invisalign now.

Thanks for the review of both! I'm deciding which one I want to go with

Hello, thanks for sharing. I had tried a 3M clear aligner, and now I have Invisalign. Why I prefer the Invisalign right from the start is how it’s scalloped, instead of cut straight across. It’s much more comfortable on my gum line. The other brand could be irritating and almost feel like it was cutting my gums.

I used to have the bar behind my bottom teeth, but unfortunately my bottom teeth still shifted back, and I was supposed to still wear retainers with it at night. The bar made it really difficult to floss, even with threading floss. It was also bc of how I think it was bonded onto my teeth that complicated threading floss. Just thought you may want to look into that before you get it. Good luck and your teeth look great! : )

Thanks for the review . It would have been good if I saw it before I used Smile Direct. It has been over 1 and a half years and I am on my sixth scan. Every time I get to the 4th aligner in the set it does not fit. I told them that I should not have been approved for their treatment and I was surprised that I was. My nephew used them without any problems though
