Here is a phrase Ataturk always reminds me of:

“There are no hopeless situations, there are hopeless people. I never lost my hope.”

-Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

I am Korean
It's amazing that one person can leave so many achievements in a lifetime.
I think I've read this guy's book over 50 times.
I envy the Turks who have such great people.

...
Sarışın bir kurda benziyordu.
Ve mavi gözleri çakmak çakmaktı.
Yürüdü uçurumun başına kadar,
eğildi, durdu.
Bıraksalar
İnce, uzun bacakları üstünde yaylanarak
ve karanlıkta akan bir yıldız gibi kayarak
Kocatepe'den Afyon ovasına atlayacaktı.
-Nazım Hikmet

i can't even explain how happy I am to see people respecting the great father of Turkish people, Atatürk, in the comments, as a Turkish person I really really appreciate it.

There is a story I remember that my dad once told me when he was talking about the war against Greece. He said once Mustafa forces surrounded the Greeks, he said either surrender or swim home and to this day I feel like that's the most badass thing I've ever heard

Respect to Turkish rebels from Greece. We may had some differences but still I respect your will to go against the Great Powers. Wish we Greeks had that mentality back then. Together we could've ruled the world.

Great leader Attaturk is. A shame that religious leaders in Indonesia spread speeches in friday prayers about him being a traitor who destroys The Ottoman Empire, a hyprocrite who betrays Islam by erasing chaliphate ideology, and a collaborator of a certain order that wants to see Islam crumbled.

They don't know anything about him. He was a charismatic leader who defended Ottoman Empire against foreign invasions, a brave soldier, and a man who cares for his people suffering under unequel aggrements aggred by The Sultan.

When he saw that The Sultan can no longer protect his people, he rally his army to fight againts foreign occupator and thus leading to the born of Republic of Turkey. Now, I know that Attaturk may do some bad things, but even hero do evil sometimes. Well... nobody is perfect and fully good. The point is, Attaturk, with all his good and bad, led Turkish people to free themselves and because of that he deserves the title "The Father of Turkey."

Edit: I'd like to see what you guys think about my thoughts. Feel free to write any comments but with polite words please.
