Godzilla, the BRIGHTEST Star in the Universe #Shorts

Показать описание
What is the brightest star in our observable universe? For the last few years, it has been Godzilla, an exceptionally luminous variable star almost 11 billion light years from Earth, appearing to shine at least 120,000,000 times brighter than our sun, owing to a temporary episode of vastly increased luminosity. Godzilla was revealed in 2016 by the magnification of a gravitational lens, enlarged from within the Sunburst Arc galaxy.

The crazy thing is this star went super nova billions of years ago and the image we are getting of it is from 10 billion years ago.

I think the sun is the brightest star from my perspective

Imagine the sunblock grade you'd need when sunbathing near Godzilla...

Dude you have by far in my opinion the best astronomical videos, discovered you a little over a year ago and your content is way better than some of the highly funded YouTube channels, really can't wait to see what the future holds for you man

If there's aliens in the vicinity of Godzilla looking at us right now they'd see nothing because they'd be looking at us not as we are today but as we were 10 billion years ago

The fact that they can observe a star on a very distant tiny galaxy is mind boggling to me

This is basically a comparison to how bright a candle seemed to the eye as when it was analysed with a photometer.

Curious the current "non-gravitationally lensed" brightest star?

Imagine how long this star has been gone. It's been a black hole for 9.9 billion years by now.

So if we were stars, we would never get to burst out more than once 😂

It's nuts that you can see light from 10 billion light years away considering a single light year is 6 trillion miles.
