No question, the @Dodge Challenger V8 is what the 2023 Last Call is all about but as a fan of the Pentastar V6 engine, I can't help wonder whether waiting for the new Hurricane I6 engine in hopes Dodge drops it into a new Challenger. However, this Challenger design is so iconic now and such a great style inside and out, having the V6 is still better than not having it all. Sure, the V8 is unquestionably what everyone wants, myself included but the V6 SXT has it's own unique styling even the V8 models don't have. I love the SXT hood and I love seeing the trip range shoot up to 480+ miles range after a fuel-up stop using the cheapest 87-octane gasoline. The V6 just hits the pocketbook a bit more gently than the brute-monetary force from the V8 models. Cheaper operating costs, cheaper maintenance, cheaper insurance and the V6 still gives a powerful, enjoyable experience without all the worry of leaving it unattended to be ripped off by these spellbound thieves stealing V8s models left and right. The question for considering the V6 is whether one should wait and see if the Hurricane 3.0 Liter, twin-turbo might end up being the best of both worlds. However, twin-turbos is already a question mark in my mind since turbos always fail eventually and are simply not as reliable as naturally aspirated engines unless the Hurricane is so advanced, they've eliminated it's weak points but that seems unlikely since they just run hotter, faster and the higher compressions inevitably mean more likelihood of higher maintenance cost. Only time will tell and certainly, the first model year should be avoided to allow seeing how they hold up. This Last Call may become a tough call even for buyers looking to get the V6, too!
