just got an auris hybrid, and honestly, regarding the ECVT whining - it's not like you're always flooring it in that car... so 80% of the time when you're driving it comfortably and economically (in the way the car is encouraging you) it's more silent than any other engine that's running through gears.

I've driven a single car during the last 8 years, a diesel, and honestly, that was encouraging me to floor it and be a hooligan in traffic - even when floored the consumption was negligible. i appreciate the auris hybrid for encouraging me to be a gentleman, it's true, the whining is annoying, that's why you only ask for it when necessary.

Dear Fifth Gear, this Lexus has no gearbox in the classical sense. Not even a CVT although the system works similar to one. You hear the car rev up a lot when you accelerate fast, but when you don't it is very very very quiet. Strange that you didn't mention that. The bootspace is not reduced because of the batteries but because it has a full size 5th wheel. If you take that out (like in most countries) The boot space results much bigger than most of its direct competitors.

my wife bought one 2 months ago and we love it !. as for the performance, just change the setting to "sport" and it will be a decent run with super fuel consumption :) as for the price, it is about 50K British pounds over here in Jordan so be happy with the UK 30k price !! LOL>

Lexus NX is designed for the public road so why hammer around a test track? People do not buy cars to go racing in!! What is it like driving on the motorway or through a city?

Put the radio on... then you don't hear the engine. I have an IS300h and love it to bits!

I BOUGHT A 2016 NX 200T (TURBO) JUST LOVE IT, IT IS VERY FAST, 235 H.P. BUT IT HAS A 2 STAGE TURBO FOR MORE POWER, HANDLES GREAT TAKES CORNERS LIKE A SPORTS CAR, NO HYBRID FOR ME, PAID $41.5 K OUT THE DOOR IN SOUTHERN CA.

The Lexus hybrid drivetrain is obviously not the same as that in a traditional car. A different approach to driving is therefore needed. But once you get used to the way it works you can avoid the 'whining' noise lots of people complain about. The suggestion of sticking a ZF gearbox in it is just stupid and shows a lack of understanding about how the car works.

I think the sound of the engine was virtual and was through the speakers and that explains the weird engine sound which can control by some kind of wheel button under the steering wheel.

I am sure they would have liked the NX200t drive train a lot more.

Didn’t mention the MPG 36/7 for a two ton car, with a range of 400 miles on a full tank, or comfort?

The sound of the hybrid drivetrains doesnt bother me in the slightest bit. You can make it sound cool by using the gas pedal differently.

yeah okay it has a eCVT (helps with mpg), get over it, it's a really reliable car, well built, amazing quality and will last long and when it comes to reselling you will still have more cash than any german car/

What a nonsense about the cvt... have driven audi’s with cvts for 15+ years and now this Nx and these engines are really perfect...
i love cvt always the right amount of torque...

Very nice ! Love the looks and the inside... they should have drove the Turbo version they would have loved it.

Are adjustable seat backs in the rear really that impressive? My 2002 Vauxhall Corsa had them

In town and countryside that cvt is a peach. To try it on racetrack is like trying to assess how good a Ferrari F40 is driving it trough London 🤔

If a cvt actually gave you a significant boost in mpg's I wouldn't mind it so much, but it's just not enough to matter so give us a proper transmission!

The CVT gearbox is what makes lexus so god damn reliable.

instead of these new overlaoded 4cylHybrids i bought a much faster/powerful V6/Hybrid RX450h for less money and i could´nt be happier ! Dont worry about the battery ....they hold well over 10 years in most cases ! Only the small 12v needs to be replaced more often to start the system.
