I use my old screens for the static stuff and just simply turn off my oled until I know for sure I’m about to play a game.

I had an older 75hz LG 1440p 27" and it was fine, and I got it cuz it was a little over $100 and was greater than 60hz at 1440p.
My wife just got me the LG 34" ultra wide curved 1440p 240hz OLED. It looks phenomenal.
And no, we didn't pay full msrp for it, we got it about 50% off.

So your solution is basically, don't use it to avoid damaging it lol

Eh, i think this is neurotic advice. You're coddling the screens and downplaying the advancements in the tech. I bought one of the Alienware 34" Ultrawide QD OLEDs last year and ive had it for about 14 months now. I work remote so I use it day in, day out for 12-18 hours per day. Theres no burn in, no degredation, no issues. It has a THREE year burn-in warranty, so Alienware isnt worried about it to the degree you are and it's their money kncthe line. If it dies after that, I will happily get whatever the latest OLED display tech is, because it's literally game changing.

All i do is set the screen to shut off after 2 minutes of inactivity, and when I get up for breaks i do the pixel cycle refresh which is 7 minutes - short enough that a bathroom break and topping off my coffee covers the time and then it's back running flawlessly again.
