LESSON NOTES

Greenleaf’s original conception of Servant Leadership was a moral one. We have a responsibility to help the people we lead to grow and develop. So, we must serve them.

I describe the twin roles of a servant leader as:
Rations
Providing their team with everything they need, to do their jobs.
Raincoat
Protecting them from anything that can interfere with doing their jobs.

How to Practice Servant Leadership
Servant Leadership is a behavioral model of leadership.
• Integrity
• Humility
• Communication
• Respect
• Restraint
• Coaching
• Trust

RECOMMENDED READING
There are a vast number of Leadership books - perhaps more than on any other management-related topic. And there is also a huge range represented in different lists of the best. This no-doubt reflects the different contexts for leadership.

So, any recommended reading list of leadership books must be particularly subjective. I have chosen those that made me think, and which are of particular value to managerial leaders: not sportspeople, military leaders, or CEOs. In no particular order:

📖 Leaders Eat Last
📖 Start with Why
📖 Humble Leadership
📖 The Leadership Challenge
📖 The New Leaders
📖 Shackleton's Way
📖 Why should Anyone be Led by You
📖 The Habit of Excellence

I don't believe that Servant Leadership is an alternative to other leadership models. Rather, it is an add-on. And it's one we all need to embrace.

Yes, it's an add on to other models of leadership. However, I would like to reiterate that 'principles are like the compass' and it makes ones leadership and behaviour magnetic due to integrity, honesty and other virtues.

The servant leadership can only happen when the followers are willing to abide by the divine laws of nature and do NOT manipulate or exploit mother Nature (the Earth) to extract or manipulate the Servant leader who is serving on divine purpose(s).

In the West, such as in the USA, there are thousands or millions or leaders who just write books after books. For example, some of the authors have a track record of writing at least writing more than or approximately 1000s of books without implementing to their own nation. Rather they are Servant Leadershhip Game Player(s).

So, knowledge from all perspectives such as Science i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematic or Biology is equally important along with the divine knowledge of being productive and serving others.

So, just writing books after books to keep their authority and control does NOT make one a leader or a servant leader and, in fact makes one a Servant player.

I hope you empathize with my message because understanding the laws of nature such as laws of Gardening is so crucial before one talks about 'Servant Leadership' or any 'Laws of Leadership' or ' Laws of Team work'.

Natures' laws must be obeyed before abiding or implmenting Servant Leadership. We cannot be servant or a steward if the the mother nature is exploited or manipulated at the expense of others.

Just writing books won't do. Divine knowledge and the laws of nature knowledge both must be implemented to keep our integrity, honesty, courage and fulfil our desire to serve our community, nation or nations.

With double-standards or hypocricy we just cannot serve or we just cannot build our community and the followers will find out sooner or later.

Let's author one book and learn to serve via Servant leadership rather than plethora of books and NOT even serving a single nation and rather only play/acting the role of Servant wherein fact they are NOT.

In brief, we must be SERVANT LEADERS and NOT Servant Players. We cannot ACT or show hypocrisy in leadership.
We must abide by divine knowledge and increase our knowledge in other subjects such as Biology, Physics, or the most important of all Mathematics.
Thank you Sir Mike Clayton.

We need to look at all sides of the coin(s) and servant leaders must NOT be exploited while serving others or serving community, nations for the betterment of mother nature Earth. :)

Whoever is serving others as a Servant Leaders must be protected and defended or else the laws of nature will take-over.
Thank you Dr. Mike Clayton.
