At least two Carnival Cruise Line ships had to change their schedules due to the impact of Hurricane Debby. The Carnival Paradise and the Carnival Elation had their itineraries altered because of the storm.
Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida as a hurricane on Monday and is now moving up the eastern coast toward Georgia and South Carolina. With Port Tampa Bay closed to ship traffic, the Carnival Paradise was among the ships affected by the situation.
“It had to wait and was unable to return to port as scheduled, resulting in a delay of one day. This also means that the next sailing for the Paradise will be postponed.”
Due to the constantly evolving situation, passengers set to embark on the ship are advised to wait for Carnival’s email and text confirmations. Originally scheduled to dock in Tampa on August 5, the Carnival Paradise is now expected to arrive once the port reopens for cruise traffic on August 6.
The Carnival Elation was also impacted by Debby, arriving at its homeport in Jacksonville one day earlier than initially planned on August 4. “It had to leave one day early as well. Thankfully, it was able to avoid the worst of the weather, which is currently affecting Jacksonville,” it was noted, with thanks given to guests for their flexibility and cooperation.
Currently on a five-night cruise to the Bahamas from Charleston, the Carnival Sunshine may also experience impacts from Debby. “The Fleet Operations Center in Miami is monitoring the storm closely as it approaches South Carolina,” it was stated.
The storm is expected to slow down as it nears the region, bringing rain and potentially hazardous conditions for several days.
“If you are planning to sail on the Sunshine in the coming days, make sure to receive our text alerts, monitor your emails, and listen for any announcements regarding changes,” it was emphasized.
