So today I tore out a piece of attic floor board of a very old country house, and a found a fragment of an LP album with this man’s name and this song on it. I’ve never heard of him until now. Curiosity brought me here.

I'm here because I was researching some music history and this song is apparently the earliest hit with an electric guitar solo ever recorded.

You hear that sound there's no mistaking, you know who it is, but you know you've just heard the true meaning of country music

My father said that this song was playing when he first entered his first bar. At first I couldn't Believe it because it would put it in the early 40's. I found out it came out in '41 and ended up #23 in Billboard's hot 100. Which is amazing because Hank was always considered the father of modern country. But here you find a textbook example of the Four bar Intro, eight Bar Chorus that remained popular deep into the Sixties, long before Hank came along.

Great! The "Father of the Country-Swing music sound."

Probably the greatest simple, pure, country tune of all time. Incredibly simple, never boring. Tubb's unique baritone non vibrato straight delivery can mislead one to think a great singing voice is not on display here, quite the opposite is true, and the perfect fit is in play, and doubled down with fine steel guitar work. Robert at 67.

I could imagine sitting around a campfire with your Freinds and a really old radio playing this song in the background. As we all here the fire crackling we think to our selves "their will never be a better time than this right here". Man this music really digs into your soul doesn't it

At 22 I think him, Jimmy Roger's and people like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Hank III are better than 99% of what is made today!

The time my Dad and I stopped in Vanhorn Tx. In my Semi. We’d been to L.A. and was headed home . After a pee brake and a Moon Pie & an ice tea climbed in the Freightliner and headed east on U.S. 90 . Bill Mack started out playing Ernest & walking the floor over you. Dad started tapping his toe and shouted ALRIGHT when Bill hollared “let’s get this show on the road” 😂
