Struggling to speak English quickly? Then STOP! Don’t speak fast English, speak clear English instead. In this video, you'll learn why you should stop trying to speak fast English and focus on speaking English more clearly so that people understand you better. Your meaning is more important than your speaking speed!

You'll learn what people mean by fast speech, including stress and reductions, contractions, dropped or deleted sounds, elision, assimilation, palatalization, linking, and connected speech. You're not alone if you feel overwhelmed by these concepts!

You'll find out what you need to do to speak clear English, including increasing the contrast in your speech by stressing words and reducing the sounds that don't matter. We'll also talk about how to break your ideas into thought groups and how to package and present your ideas so native speakers can follow what you're saying. Finally, you'll find out how to use your voice to communicate your meaning through pitch and intonation.

Hi Kim!
I hope you are very well and in good shape.
After watching even one of your videos, Kim, it's obvious to infer anyone will like learning English.
I've realized so far that you have the keys of "communication". When you're speaking, I can observe what you're saying through your lips, eyes, face, and even your head by moving it "left to right, up to down".
I'm proud of you Teacher!
Congratulations Kim once more!

I used to cling to speak fast similar to native speaker. A few years ago when I had been doing facebook a lot. A friend of mine who is Aussie told me that You speak too fast to understand. I just thought that The reason why she didn’t understand what I’m saying is just that She was not American and She didn’t get use to American English. Now I understand what’s the important thing than speak fast.

Thank you Kim. As always, your lessons are fruitful and practical.I couldn't agree more with you on this point because I have met quite a few beginner or intermediate students of English struggling to speak fast without noticing how ridiculous they sound and usually leads to "being pretentious". :-)

Hi Kim, another great video of you, thank you!
I have a question. Do you have any advice to increase volume when speking? I naturally have a little breathy soft voice and when I hear my voice on voice recorders, it doesn't sound believable nor motivated. I'm trying to breathe deep but it's not helping me. I'd like to have harder and stronger voice to sound more confident. Thank you for your help🤗

After learning for a number of years, if your goal is to truly master the language, you should try to gradually increase the rate of your speech.
