My husband has family in France. His cousin is an photographer for a small newspaper. While we were visiting she took us to a boat race that she was covering. We were watching from a high place, and she was all over the place, but we could spot her in the crowd, all in black, with her bright pink scarf. I was charmed, and started noticing all the Parisian women with scarves. Since then, I have dozens and find they are comfortable and make any outfit look complete.

I love your little black dress. I have always had the traditional beige trenchcoat but last year purchased the most intense jewel blue colour. I adore it!!! Not so versatile but I always am complimented when I wear it. lol it is almost the blue of the 'comment' button. I have always enjoyed scarves too. my problem is my love of blue! i would dress in blue every day and have every room painted blue. I guess it is my 'black' lol

I'm going to play along as you speak, Marie-Anne. Do I have...

a wool sweater in a neutral color? Yes
a stripes-on-white item? Yes
a pair of jeans, preferably dark wash? Yes
a simple and timeless LBD? Yes
a classic trench coat? Yes
an eye-catching scarf? Yes

My score today: 6/6. I'm on a roll this week! You've been a great teacher, Ms. Lecoeur, and my closet is already showing what I've learned. Thank you!

I am 70 and have silver hair in a bob haircut. I don't look good in beige so I bought a burgundy trench coat and I love the color with my hair. It also goes with most of my wardrobe. I wear a lot of black but after watching this video I will be incorporating navy blue into my wardrobe. Thank you.

I would be interested to see, a how to accessorize the little black dress. Perhaps using example of many different models wearing accessories that particularly suit their little black dress. So, mainly this would be an accessory themed video. But, maybe it's not that simple? As the accessories might be for the person more than the dress? Food for thought anyway.

I watch a section, hit pause, and immediately shop for the piece; then I watch the next section, pause, shop and so on and so on! It’s taking a while to get thru the video at this pace, but I’m loving it!! 😉

I have always noticed that classic pieces look best on me. It’s time to build up basics so I have outfits to wear when situations arise. This way I don’t have to run out and find an appropriate outfit. This will make my life much easier.

For decades, I have worn almost all neutral solids, almost all the time (mainly black, navy and grey), and so for me, scarves are so necessary! I love them and I buy far too many of them. Along with footwear, handbags, gloves and hats, they are the way I introduce a little bit of "excitement" into an otherwise very plain palette. Scarves and shoes, especially, are my favorite accessories.

Thanks again Anne-Marie. You have brightened up another day in solitary confinement in Sicily! I agree about scarves (wishing I could tie them with French nonchalance); I have built up a collection over the years and have great fun altering the mood of an outfit. But trench coats... I have tried, honest, but they are not me. At age 66, I feel much happier in a biker jacket (any colour other than black)!

I have all these pieces, so I guess I am spot on fashionable. Your videos are so fun to watch.

Apart from the trench coat I have them all. Don't wear the stripey tee shirt so much though.
I was thinking about French women and red lipstick. It looks very good but how do you keep it on? Also if you wear nail polish would it be red too?

I think France must be the nation with most scarves 😄 I live in the UK in the SW & not many ladies wear them here but hey I'll start a new trend 😍

I love scarves so much - I have purchased them both new and from thrift shops for years. They are a great way to add color and whimsy to an outfit without the going overboard - it was a lesson I learned after spending far too much money on brightly colored/patterned clothing that drew my eye but were just far too much when I actually wore them...in all honesty, I did spend a lot of time walking around looking like an overstuffed sofa when I was younger...

Your clothes-room is so beautiful. And I love seasonal decorations with plants.

I love scarves - they can be styled in so many different ways, on your handbag, your hat your hair, a pony tail- and elevate the overall look. You are absolutely right - it is that je ne sais quoi désinvolture which is the hallmark of French chic ! I am not " petite robe noire " though ! as I am tan and cinnamon; but definitely midi (or ankle length) jupe noire, grey, taupe or navy blue .And iof course a staunch fan of black, white, striped and polka dottted T-shirts.. 🔳💠♡⬛🔲💙🔹️🔳🟦🔳♥️☆

Hmmm. Cashmere. I had always thought this a luxury item but you make some great points. I appreciate how you emphasized it is very warm but doesn't add "bulk". Your gray cashmere sweater looked beautiful, by the way!
