Google Earth Image Overlay in AutoCAD

In this Video, I will demonstrate how to add a google earth image into AutoCAD using your project coordinate system.

There was an option to import google earth image to Civil3D, however, those options were only available up to 2012 version of Civil 3D.
Civil3d has the geolocation tab to insert aerial maps, this command uses map imagery from Bing maps.
Bing maps are sometimes not updated like google earth, which we often need for Civil 3D or Map.
The method I’m sharing here is very simple and you just need normal AutoCAD and Google earth or
Google Earth Pro (which will provide a better quality image).

Good video for those without Map functionality. If you have the means to get Autocad Map, that is would be the way to go. Thanks for sharing, I learned something.

I know this is old, but just one question. Is this method considered better (or more accurate) than just using the scaling command? What I usually do is import the image at any scale, and then scale a length on the imported image to match a length between the same two points in google earth. Usually this gets me pretty close and I can eyeball it into place over the default bing aerial that Autodesk generates for drawing coordinate system. This seems to require a little bit more time so I'm wondering if there is an obvious benefit to accuracy.
