Lol, I love how Merc pushed for regs to combat porpoising when many teams already dealt with it. The regs put in place played right into Red Bull’s hands as they raised the ride and floor heights, which Red Bull’s concept can deal with better. As a Red Bull fan, thank you Merc for contributing to their dominance.

Does Mercedes really not see a way to build a balanced fast F1 car that copes with the subtleties of ground-effect while at least 4 other F1 teams in the last 2 years have?

I thought Mike Elliott rotating out out of Technical Director of the Race Car would focus minds on how to control the airflow under the Mercedes and not be kicking at the rules and rivals again.

At Spa the Mercedes had a bigger speed advantage from their DRS deployment than Red Bull, with a faster straight-line speed too. Hamilton made a point about this when he grabbed pole in Hungary (with bodywork that choked his car in the race) and everyone wrongly expected that Red Bull advantage would be back in Belgium. So it seems the DRS isn’t the race winning trick Mercedes said it was 2 months ago, and maybe they’ve just wasted a lot of development time on that, while McLaren have may have jumped them by developing everything but their rear wing, most notably their floor.

The more this rant against how bouncing affects “everyone” continues, the more it feels like George isn’t acting in all the drivers best interests, when he speaks as GPDA President, just the ones who race with an AMG badge.

To me the bouncing looks much more benign this year on every car, but the current Mercedes which is still so much stiffer in its suspension than it ever has been. I hope James Allison can return Mercedes’ past easier handling to the 2024 car, rather than chasing the maximum output of an equation, which still seems like Mercedes’ real issue.

I still find it ridiculous that Mercedes had the audacity to complain when it was their own fault as to why they had porpoising in the first place. Half of the rules exist because the teams were to lazy to fix their cars so they decided to complain instead of growing up
