And we are so happy that we can finally start another video with the statement: #MercedesF1 is back! In this video, we're going to discuss how Mercedes' upgrades led to a podium finish for Russell and a remarkable comeback for Hamilton. Before the race on Sunday, there was already a lot to do with team Mercedes. For example, Russell took a stronger starting position than Hamilton, the W13 finally seemed to deliver the performance we've been waiting for AND Hamilton accused his teammate of cheating. As we mentioned in previous videos, this weekend was the moment of truth for Mercedes. The W13 HAD to perform to participate in the top classification as a team!
This season, the "sidepod-less" W13 is only about 1 thing: the problem with porpoising. According to technical director Mike Elliott, this was by far the main reason the concept wasn't reaching its true potential.

Nothing was left to chance for the debut of the new aerodynamic package. Just as Ferrari hoped to take advantage of an intercalated filming day at Monza, Mercedes hoped to do the same by hiring Paul Ricard for a day.

The lowest-lying air ducts have also been redesigned with more rounded profiles and a long, freely adjustable area to increase or decrease the angle of the ends of the floor to control as the floor blocks the airflow under the car.

Furthermore, at the ends of the floor, we suddenly saw the wavy pattern again that we saw earlier on one of the first versions of the car as it was used during the winter tests in Barcelona.
