Hello Dr.TaiThank you so much for the info! I was seeing rainbows around lights and extreme haziness like in a smoke filled rm. I thought I had dry eyes, went to the opthalmologist and when he came in the room he looked stressed. He said I had closed angle with eye pressure of 71! He did emergency surgery that day! He said he didn't want me to have a stroke in my eyes cause that would be it! I just turned 62. I take combigan bid and prednisolone acetate qid. I seeclearly with no rainbows present.

Drs Maki and Lee, I’ve had open angle glaucoma for about 34 years now, and recently told by my Ophthalmologist that my cataracts should be addressed with surgery. My Ophthalmologist asked if I wanted iStents implanted during my cataract surgery. I never heard of iStents, but I’m now familiar with the few different types after having researched them. My glaucoma pressures are routinely 14-16, managed with two different glaucoma eye drops.
I’m wondering about the successfulness of the iStent, based on your experience. Are iStents generally considered to be a permanent solution, or a temporary one? I’m trying to decide whether to have the iStents or iStent inject W implanted, even though my glaucoma seems to be well controlled currently.

Thank you for any feedback.

In regards to astigmatism and lens replacement surgery, apparently there is even a chance of causing it, or worsening it as a side effect? If so, is there any difference between mono-focal and multi-focal lenses in the possibility of this occurring, or not?

I am 71 and a patient with Glaucoma, POAG, with a family history, for the last four years; it manifested with water provocation early morning in 2019. The IOP never crossed 16 to 18 and the thickness of Cronea was around 507 and 513um. I was placed on Prostaglandin Analog drops, Travanoprost/Bimatoprost Once a day.

In 2020, one early morning, I lost my vision in the Right Eye and was diagnosed, CRVO, and is being treated with regular monitoring with OCT & periodic intravitreal Administration of Accentrix/Eylea. The Glaucoma Specialist in order to reduce the possibilities of CRVO in the other Eye decided to do Peripheral Iridotomy as well.

I am now on the Carbonic Hydrase Inhibitor group, Brinzolamide eye drops Three times a day; the IOP remain around 14-15 by Applanation Tonometry.

Now I have developed Cataracts in both my eyes and undergoing surgery for that!

Should I be thinking of having Glaucoma Surgery along with the Cataract? Amongst MIGS, where does the BANG stand? What are the other options for surgery if surgery is the right option for me?

I am messaging from India and am from the medical profession but am not an Ophthalmologist!

Cataract surgery on my left eye cured glaucoma in my RIGHT eye!!! I think I actually had white coat ophthalmic hypertension, which was "cured" by experiencing complex "premium" eye surgery, after which a Goldman tonometer was no threat at all.
