i have had encounters just like this with an ipod nano that said the battery had been replaced but the battery on it only lasts about 5-10 minutes

Damn it sucks 500$, here in the philippines all ipod classics are cheap, u can buy working defective battery and hdd around 20$, you can mod it the way you want it for cheap
