The Best USB Power Adapters of the Last Year

In this video, I am giving my opinions on the best adapters of the last year. I think these adapters meet most of the requirements and for me have been great. Each will have limitations though since I have yet to find the perfect adapter.

Just a suggestion that you might add a "buy me a coffee" or other one-off payment method on your website. I'm not a fan of subscriptions that sign me up for repeating payments from a stored credit card. But I'd be happy to make a one-off payment to thank you for doing all of your great work that pointed me to a better purchase. Thanks.

Thanks for your detailed reviews. Based on a previous review I purchased two Baseus 100 watt desktop chargers for the end tables next to the couch in our family room. It’s where my family spends most of our time together, and there is always something needing a charge - iPhones, iPad Pros, Nintendo Switches, etc. They work great charging multiple devices at once and have a very small footprint. I put some Velcro on them and the end tables to keep them from sliding off.

I have the Baseus 120w adapter and I have absolutely no regrets buying it. I also bought it alongside Baseus's display series USB cables and they have been serving me for years now.

Your videos have been great thank you! Any idea why most PPS chargers still don't ”super fast charge 2.0” the high end Samsung devices? I'm having a hard time finding a non Samsung branded multiport charger that will charge them at 45 Watts which is the super fast charging 2.0 speed. I know Samsung requires a 5 amp charger and cable as well but I can't get specifics on most chargers PPS standards.

I'm not really hopeful that the USB consortium is gonna make mandatory mandatory some key specifications to avoid users confusion and issues. Can't wait to see what's in store for the next months!

Thanks for all the reviews, i have a question.

I am in the market for a 100w multiport charger it will probably have a tablet phone and laptop at most connected. My problem is that i am in the eu and you mentioned the higher voltage is sometimes a problem. I hate the vibrating current leakage feeling in a laptop and have therfore be searching for a charger with a grounding pin. But i can find absolutely no good options.

I hope you maybe have a suggestion, thank you for all your work

Your spot on with the Baseus - I got mine and was charging a laptop, it lasted a day and a half at 62 watt draw (measured) then the light went off and the smell of smells happened - it fried. When it was working it was workign great the laptop was being charged while it was in use - nice but it couldnt handle much.

Thank you for your videos. I’ve now had 3 of the Baseus adapters in my house I think for more than a year without any issues and 2 of the 3 get used every day. My default adapter. Have many small to large Anker adapters as well. Just bought a 200 Watt ISDT adapter with 3 65W and 1 100W and 1 type A port and it’s the hub I use for all of my camera battery charging.

Dude, your content is so good that a wish you could review products from the Brazilian market. Here we never had a content creator with so much quality on your nich.

5:25 according to anker website model 747 output 100W max. 150W naming means 100 + 25 + 25. Not “for larger devices” as you mentioned, it's not much different from other adapters in 100 Watt range. Perhaps you mistaken it with model 717, which outputs 140W

Are you planning on testing the EU versions of the Baseus chargers?

Another 65w charger I would recommend is the Anker Ganprime powercore 733, because it's also a mid size power bank so it gets extra points. I haven't seen a 65w charger with power factor correction, so this takes the cake until something with PF in the 0.9's comes by

Just wanted to say I appreciate all the effort you have put forth in reviewing all these. Fantastic job and channel. Been loving the regular releases :) An updated car adapter video would be cool! I just picked up the UGREEN "130w" which I don't think you've covered yet :)

Maybe I missed it but is there a cheap device that can tell you what modes a cable is rated for, or the true max wattage it can handle? Thanks!

Are your general dislike towards 65w adapters based on energy use efficiency (my electric bill) or because of the efficiency of charging the device (time/battery health)?

I watched the review for the Anker 735 GaN and can’t quite wrap my head around the specifics of why you don’t recommend them.

So I live in a van and power efficiency is my number one priority when looking at a charger. Do I understand correctly that when charging my MacBook from a low battery to full its best to use a lets say 100w power adapter but when idling it would be best to use a lets say 30w power adapter? Because of their efficiency at those power consumptions? Please let me know if I’m wrong. Great videos btw, very informative and the best place on the internet so far for actual data about these adapters.

I found for older devices converted to C you need to try and match its original spec like I have a Magsafe 1 to USB-C adaptor and I tried using a 30w PD charger while it worked the Mac Book Pro wasnt happy coming in and out of charge constantly when in use but 30w can trickle charge while the device is switched off its best to use something with at least 65w of power or greater if you wanted to use the device at the same time with no issues.

Appreciate the lecture and explanations for each category. Going to need more lectures since it's a lot to take in 🔌

Do you have a video for recommended USB chargers for international travel? My personal priorities are: multi-port (to avoid having to carry multiple travel adapters for each USB charger), at least 1 USB-A port (I still have devices that only have a USB-A charging cable*), & secure (my Anker 735 Nano II 65W often falls out / has the plug collapse when used with the power socket on US flights). As a note, I'm generally fine with lower wattages because I typically charge overnight.

*I find myself falling back to bringing USB-A to USB-C cables for standardization and also because they seem to have less trouble with intermittent charging (have tested different combinations of plugs, cables, and travel adapters).
