I can understand why Fang liked Red, he was generally interested in her, he wanted to be with her, and she liked how silly he was.

I noticed that they only get “drunk” when they started eating the rotting fruits on the ground. Which would make sense because fermented fruits are used to make alcoholic beverages like wine. Red is eating the ones on the tree and sees Fang eating the ones on the ground and is like “Huh, never tried that before” and they both get drunk. 😆

The little things in each episode really stand out at times. That's part of the beauty in this show. No goofy sound effects or annoying voices, just taking in the natural splendor.

Red was definitely a subspecies of what Fang is and his species is possibly on the verge of extinction. It seems dinosaurs in this land are much more rare than they were in Spear and Fang’s homeland. People have dominated this part of the world so dinosaurs were likely hunted to extinction as we saw in cave paintings in the episode after this, plus the changing climate likely didn’t help either. When he met Fang he was probably so friendly with her because he saw this as his one and only chance to actually breed with another theropod and has likely never seen another dinosaur in many years and was probably very lonely. He also likely resented humans because they possibly killed his parents and or his siblings and also actively hunted him and made his life hard. That’s probably why he hated the Celtic village and Spear so much. I think over time tho he would’ve grown to have liked Spear. I’m still very sad about what happened to him.

You got to see a lot in this scene. This really was "Red inviting Fang to get drunk with him." These were *fermented* fruits, which was why these obligate carnivores were eating them.

They also were depicted like modern birds of prey, which is to say, the females were dominant. Red took the lead only because he knew about the effects and she didn't; the dance was a clear invitation to Fang, but she had to choose to go along with it. However, she was pretty curious and the courting dance just sealed the deal. Once she started getting tipsy, she was sold. And he knew it.

Series did a fantastic job of showing that these gigantic predators had feelings, too. They were not just mindless killing machines. They really cared for one another in the brief time they had together.

... This is one thing I always wondered. Instead of a horrific but well told killing-human-frenzy... What if Red was actually friends with the villagers? Imagine if he started chasing kids, only to pretend to be bested by them and play with them, confusing yet relieving Fang? Then when Vikings attacked that village, Red lost his life in battle protecting Fang, Spear and the villagers? Don't get me wrong, I get the whole thing... But ponder that what if and tell me it wouldn't have been beautifully tragic.
