The World's Most Powerful Pocket Camera

This is the much awaited Fujifilm X-M5 - the successor to 2013's Fujifilm X-M1, which, despite having a rocky start to life, has recently seen a resurgence in popularity on the used market. Well, Fujifilm has clearly taken notice and has decided to resurrect this long since abandoned camera series with this new X-M5. This new incarnation offers the same portability and retro-styling as before, but with a whole rift of up to date autofocus features and video specs that potentially make this one of the most powerful pocket-sized cameras ever released! But, is it actually any good?

I wish the two dials on top were for ISO and shutter, with A mode on each, like the aperture ring. Doesnt it make more sense?
Film simulators are great, but you don't need to change it so often, like the ISO.

Many people say, 'Why doesn’t this camera have an EVF and IBIS?' Hear me out, if you want both of those features, the answer is the Fujifilm XS20. This camera is mid-range and in the same class as the ZV-E10 Mark II. So, if you need more features, you'll need to buy a higher-priced model.

FujiFilm's value proposition is the film sims, so it makes sense that they allocate a dedicated dial for it.

Also just to mention... It so so good to see you are almost at 200K, I have been watching your videos since you were "only" around 40-50k and it seemed like you were stuck there for awhile, but then the great British (now Canadian) YouTube God gifted you with an even bigger bag of sarcasm and jokes... and boom 💥 now you are almost at 200K, (of course the constant quality content might have helped a little bit too... 🤔😅)

People saying why Fuji not added a blank dial instead of a dedicated one for film simulations are missing the point. Film simulations are one of the strong points of Fuji and they want people to use it, especially on a consumer camera like this.

Its called X-M5 because the current fuji line is 5, e.g. xt-5, xt-50, etc.. This makes it clear how it relates to the whole x line.

Hey Mate, I'm a X-M1 owner for 10 years already, and it's just sitting inside my cabinet for the past 4-5 yrs. Mainly because (I thought) the mobile phones photos already surpass the x-trans1 in terms of quality. But anyway, just came across your x-m1 vids, and I got inspired to shoot with it again. Thanks for the great videos. I also discovered just recently these fuji film recipes you mentioned in one of your videos. you street photos look great! if I may, what recipe do you use in your X-M1?
