QANTAS 787-9 premium economy is NICE!! (SFO-MEL)

How I usually end up with empty seats next to me on flights:

----------------------------------------------

Whoa. I'm not sure what has been happening with premium economy products lately, but I really like the direction that the airlines are taking it.

This is footage from QANTAS flight 50 from San Francisco (SFO) to Melbourne (MEL). Total flying time was a tick under 15 hours, and I was seated in 20A - a premium economy seat in the bulkhead row. The aircraft was a 787-9, registered as VH-ZNA.

I’ve been watching these videos for a while, and it would appear that Qantas is the only premium economy to be a business minus class, where the other airlines do an economy plus version. Makes me feel incredibly lucky to have experienced it.

Premium Economy on Qantas looks like a good product. Little things like linen napkins and proper glassware make a difference in my opinion. Takes me back to the early days of flying. Thanks for sharing.

I really like this guy and his reviews. He presents well and doesn't focus too much on one thing. I will continue to watch these unbiased reviews.

A missed connection between melbourne and Sydney? hahahaha. Did you have to wait a whole 30 extra minutes until the next flight

I've done those transpacific flights from LAX or SFO to Australia and New Zealand several times. To Australia, it's been on United in economy. I pick an aisle seat and just deal with it. I manage. Not too horrible. It's possible to get some sleep in economy if you try. I think Melbourne is a nicer city than Sydney. Sydney may have more to do, but how the CBD is near the Yarra River in Melbourne, with all the restaurants along the river walk, makes it nice.

That premium economy seat looks better than most business class seats I've walked by on my way back to steerage. The 787 is a beautiful plane (flew EWR to LAX in early 2021) but my brain still can't accept that a flight to Australia is not on a 747 or A380. 😁

What a great meal presentation for a premium economy product. Looks like in business class.

You’re coming into my home town. Love watching vids like this - as though it’s my flight too.

Yes, when I would fly to London, England to see family and friends and I would sit in Economy Class out of Newark, New Jersey on a 777-200 and 300s, I would always sit in front of Economy Class on A&B side all the time. Our flights were never full coming out of Newark so it is always nice to have those seats by myself... And yes coming from Chicago's O'Hare Airport I would find the United Red Carpet Lounge all the time...

Thank you for NOT doing the amenity kit reveal. I am amazed at people who can afford $5, 000 for a business class seat and get so excited over a travel size tube of toothpaste!

Kind of shocked there's no amenity kit in premium economy. I like them for the container (often reusable) and the eye mask. Wow, you had to connect to Sydney?! Not fun.

I haven't been on Qantas for years, before there were non-stops west coast to Australia. I used to spend the night in a Honolulu airport hotel, really helped with jet lag back in the 707 days. My first 747 flight was on Qantas, in 1977. Such memories.

Bulkhead seats help a fair a bit! No Vegemite but you did get a Fantail...another Australian icon! Excellent review and well done to Qantas on their product!
